Wondering if it's just me?
I find it really hard to part with my carp tackle. I have more rods than I can remember, multiple sets of alarms, 4 bivvies, and one of those bivvies is a 25 year old power plus professional which I haven't used in ten years but I can't bring myself to part with it, not that these days anybody would be interested in an antique like that, but I'm at it again, over the last few days I've been looking at some new rods and reels and I'm already sat on thousands of pounds worth.
I've convinced myself that I need a new set of reels, a set of black mags, but I'm not prepared to sell my Basiars or my 1200 xta techniums.
Is hoarding common amongst carp anglers or is it just me? Might be time to see the men in white coats 🤣

I was bad up until last year when i got sick to death of not being able to get to the stuff i needed. I fish on my own, my Mrs or kids never come with me, so why the hell did i need three bed chairs? Etc etc. I had a major clear out and sell off. I had three complete pod set ups. Madness.

I can't help myself. I have loads of gear that I will never use. My obsession is rods, funny enough not carp rods but rods in general.

I'm the same. Got enough tackle for my brother and my son to come fishing with me. Now they don't fish anymore it's redundant but I cant part with it.

Get your excess gear on eBay guys, seems like buying gear is the new actually going fishing and everything is going for top dollar!
I seem to have a clear out every so often mostly after I've walked half a mile to a swim with a full Barrow, back hurting and sweating my nuts off then days later il pop down to my local shop just browsing and buy more,I'm sure theres a name for it I just cant help myself 
I'm a hoarder here too, if I perceive a need for something then it's guaranteed I'll get it at some point. The real trouble was taking up specialist fishing for other species, tench, barbel, roach etc...
18 rods and umpteen reels and I still perceive a need for more, or at least chop some in and change them.
I like the look of the new pace compact specialists in 10ft but luckily they are just a bit too long for the car boot... thank ****

Yep guilty as charged, got some much gear, I used to fish for a wide range of fish, certainly got over 30 rods in there, ones I can't bear to sell, like my first proper rod, linch hill roach rods, my tip rods that I used chub fishing, so many memories attached to them, funny enough don't feel like that with the reels

Gulp, just added up my carp rods from memory. Stopped at 23 but that does include spod rods.
I daren't actually go and look as there may be even more I've forgotten about.
It's an illness, especially considering I've probably only done a handful of days fishing in the last 12 months!

Thanks god, i thought I was the only one. Collecting rods, reels, pods, bite alarms and so on for around 25 years.
Now i ordered 6 more rods, 3 FS XX Black Edition and 3 Bob Morris Armalites cos i need them

I used to be, but circumstances have changed and now storing it all is a problem for me so I'm selling a lot of my old gear that I don't need and upgrading at the same time. People willing to pay top £££ on eBay and FB for second hand gear at the moment I am finding

Seems like I'm not the only hoarder then lads, good to see my illness is shared, strength in numbers as they say 🤣
Most of us have spent a lifetime amassing gear and refining our tools of choice over the years, and ultimately it will be the wife or your misses in most cases that disposes of it for less than what you told her it cost 😳😂

I keep broken fishing rods too, I should throw them away but at the time I think I could possibly get it repaired so best keep it

Thing is mate if someone has a pair of used SS3000s, they'll get more for them if they sell them with a box. Same as with mobile phones lol. OK maybe ote £300 more though

I'm the opposite, I seem to sell my gear every six months. A multitude of reasons both financially and mentally, but I Have done it since I got my first proper pay packet at 17.
That way, I know which alarms/rods/reels suit me better years down the line for when I go into "comfort mode" and become a bivvy tramp. Plus, if a product is still on the market 15 years after release, chances are it's a quality, proven piece of kit anyway.
