So I'm looking to get some new alarms. Choice between new txi d mk 3 Nevs or fox rx+.
I have had alarms from all 3 companies. To help, can anyone tell me any disadvantages of these sets that have used them, any problems encountered or any things they wish they had. I want to make the right choice on these.
I have to admit at the minute, I am edging for rx+ despite what my mate is saying.

Big mistake..
You are going to get the usual suspects slagging of any thing but delkim and then the other camp slagging of delkim
Then Another lot slagging of ATTS And another lot slagging of the nevs
Go down the middle and try to find some ace alarms Or fox alarms that have vibration and roller wheel lol

All of them are good so you wont really go wrong with any of them. Throwing the nevs in is a bit of a strange one as there polar opposites of the rx and delk d's. They are a basic reliable alarm where the other two do everything under the sun. Ive had them all and my favourite is still the ace i3's as mentioned below but they dont make them anymore so you will have to buy them second hand.

I know Nevs are basic, but they fall into the bracket of alarms and receivers, plus they are a bit cult too!! I was RX+ and now I am having delkim thoughts....I had the old txi's and the old rx!!

I know there alarms but there completely different to the other two so so you cant compare them. I also would never buy an alarm because its a bit of a cult. You either want an alarm that does it all or you dont.

I can understand why you wouldn't buy an alarm because they were a bit of a cult, however, they do have some good features too. The simplicity is appealing in an alternative to the bells and whistles. However I would say they are lower on the list, but not out of the running.

I've owned top end Fox which were very good but I prefer the simplicity of the Neville's. They do everything you need and they do it perfectly. Don't be put off by the ham fisted tightening them down until the cases split.
Lo/Hi sensitivity. Lo/Hi/mute volume. Great receiver, LED's and battery life. What else do you need?
Spend your time looking for fish, not fiddling with your alarms.
Never owned Delkims but the new ones sound even more complicated than Fox.
And the Neville's are British designed and built if that's important to you.
And yes they look the ******** too

Matrix stainless locking collar underneath on thread looks good and stops the cases cracking, not that ive ever cracked a case. The new delks are no more complicated than the old ones. I also thought they looked a bit complicated in the videos but i set them up at home in 5 mins and now just control the settings with the wheels like the older version.

If I was in the market for alarms I'd be looking at ECU Mk1 compact plus.. Lots of features and very well built.. 👍

I'm on the new TXI-D and they really are the dogs danglies massive improvement on the original TXI which I had major issues with which is well documented in previous threads! I fished last week in a major hail storm and constant bleeps so pressed the 2nd and 3rd button on receiver to put the alarms into a 3 second delay mode and hey presto no bleeps, the hail and heavy rain continued for hours so ended up putting the alarms into full delay mode which I was dubious about as watching rods constant as was not convinced! it cleared and I pulled the line on all alarms to give the continuous run after 3 seconds and the receiver/alarms worked perfect so a massive thumbs up from me, the alarms I sold previous to this was the Fox RX+ which again are bullet proof and the only reason I sold them was fishing with braid and finicky pike takes and the alarm would not pick it up as braid skipping other than that top end alarms, never used Nevilles so cant comment

I would 2nd that ,but the MK1 compact was my choice,solid build,reliable,with all the functions you'll need.
Waterproof too
Let's face it, ECU, Delkim,Fox all do great buzzers,it all boils down to your personal choice.

~ I rubber mount all my Alarms these days, provides an instant alignment and no there's need to over-tighten at all as the compression of the Rubber holds them still. There's absolutely no reason for having Alarms locked up solid.

I'm a fox man myself - had a set of RX digitals for a few years which I sold and now regret. Currently using the MMXR which are a great compact little alarm, and to be honest more or less do what the RX's did but without the vibration technology which I didn't really use anyway.
I've had a few sets of different fox alarms over the years from the budget end to high end and they've always been faultless. Never used delks but know plenty who do and swear by them.
To be honest you could go for either and not be disappointed I reckon.

Well, I went for fox, have a bit of a soft spot for fox, being the first alarms I used properly. I nearly bought the delks yesterday, but finally found someone with the fox in stock. So I actually had to make a decision....and I did. Hopefully I wont regret not holding out for the wolf alarms

You wont go wrong with any of them, its just personal choice at the end of the day. There all great alarms.

Only alarms I've been 100% happy with. They're just ‘right'.
Only potential issue I can see is line skipping on slack lines particularly if rods heavily angled but I would assume that's the same for all roller wheels.

I've got the Fox RX+ alarms and the major tipping point for buying them (apart from disliking Delkims ) was the led on the handset. I believe the Prologic SMX was first to feature this. It's a great way of finding your shoes in the middle of the night and helping to avoid tripping over the dog. Add to that they are excellent alarms.
I think all companies should invest in adding this to their receivers .

hope you don't take offence but is it an eyesight thing? I think I'd be impaired playing a fish at night if I'd had a light on in the bivvy first.
I've never had a problem finding shoes left by my bed at night without light. I try not to use light when playing fish at night cos of light blindness. I might switch the headtorch on near the net if I need to but that's it.
that said I've had to start wearing reading glasses and it's getting worse so maybe it's coming to me.

I've got the rx+s and bought them to replace my NTXrs as soon as they came out simply for the adjustable leds on the alarms. the NTXrs were far too bright and non adjustable. I never use the bivvy light facility. I think the less light the better.

Must admit I don't have a problem putting my trainers on in the dark, (boots are a different matter), nor tripping over the dog, even though she sleeps just out the bivvy usually, or just inside if it is raining.
I don't actually grab my headlight normally until the fish is in the net, and on the mat, unless I just happen to be wearing it anyway. I'm wary of switching it on while playing a fish, I have spooked a few by switching it on as I'm just about to net it, and having to play it again to the net.
