I'm looking at buying some waders and narrowed them down to the pros waders or the vass 600. I'm only using them for getting out to land fish and for placing rigs, I'm not going to be sat in them all day or anything, which wound you pick from them two ? Cheers 👍

Being a former professional fish farmer in the past I would have to recommend guy cotton waders. Comfortable and easy to repair should you need to
Vass ones are roughly same price as guy cottons I believe
I find the pros hard to get into quickly but other than that they're fine.

Not sure about the Vass 600 range but on the 700e version the boots are cut lower so far easier to get into and they stand up better, the Pro's ones are just normal wellie height and a pain to get into quickly, also the buckles aren't as good, pays your money you takes your choice, I'd personally pay the bit extra and get the 700s

I use vass Tex 700 For all my sea rock fishing and wading. Had them two or three years and am happy with them. They fly on due to the short boots and are so far hard wearing. I got a size bigger for winter use which works for me.
Work much better if you only use one strap though !

I have 3 sets of chest waders; Vass mid range ones, Fox lightweight Camolite ones & some old Snowbee chest waders.
The Vass ones I end up getting wet clothes for some reason with them even though there is not a leak. Vass have no explanation! It is almost as if water wicks through the material as not sweating at all.
The Fox ones are ok if the water is warm in the summer otherwise you get a bit of a shock when you reach the crotch area!!!
I tend to reach for the old Snowbee ones more than anything else TBH. Had them best part of 15 years now & still going strong. No idea why I bought the others TBH!!!!

also going to be looking for chesties , when you say that pro waders are a pain to get into quickly . how much of a pain do you guys find them with rod in hand , do they fold down easy to step into , is my only concern as I don't intend sitting in them .. cheers all

I recently bought ocean chest waders as I had the tight waders and they where good to get into.
Alot of waders with a short boot are a nightmare to get into especially in a hurry.

No, none of the others are ‘breathable' either & it is only the Vass ones that have the issue. Wearing a breathable material in water makes no sense anyway as the material cannot breathe if it is wet as the pores in the material are blocked. The only advantage in breathable waders is if you are going to be wearing them out of the water all day long as well like a wandering fly angler along a river would be.

Happens all year round & only in the areas which have been in the water. If I stand outside on dry land, there is no problem. 30 seconds in the water & clothes are damp in the areas where submerged. Strangely enough, the boot section isn't affected. If I stand in my pond with them on, up to crotch depth, both trouser legs from the top of the boot section to the crotch will be damp. I even tried wearing knee length shorts & only the short material got damp, not my bare legs.
I can't figure it out as only happens with the Vass waders. Checked for leaks as well & none discovered. They have also been replaced by the shop with same thing.

Same here. Thought switching to Vass would make a difference as the mice had demolished my old (cheap) waders. Nothing special though, they're just waders and actually feel a lot less flexible and durable than my cheapies.

Scierra x 16000 boot foot chest waders... Wellie is a low type a about 8 inches tall, perfectly breathable, had mine a few years and love em, easy to slip on when rolled down.. Had no issues with them.. Went through 2 sets of VASS in a season, one split on the ass, one on the welly and they were the heavy duty ones..

Mine do exactly the same, total pain in the butt, can find no entry point, they just leak on one side

They are a little more expensive but I've had a pair of Ocean waders with a studded boot for over 25 years. They were £80 when I bought them. I've only just had to repair them in one area due to wear and tear and I had a small pin***** just above the boot a couple of years ago because a thorn went through the wader during a work party. They have a small boot height too so getting them on and off has never been a problem.

I've used vass for years but I will get ocean next. They look great for the price. The pros ain't the one, too floppy imo.

Mate if you want to look 'Carpy' you can only go with the VASS ones
You also have to make sure you get the yellow straps as these look epic when taking your capture shots in the water whilst looking longingly at your fish
Disclaimer: I own the yellow strap Vass ones and also gaze longingley at my captures, however I look more like I'm wearing a skin tight green bondage suit (they don't make any bigger than mine) rather than the uber cool and carpy pictures gracing the internet.
