Anything decent out there? The two ive found up to now are a little sony one and a roberts play. The pure one looks a bit high tech and is touch screen by the look of it.

Roberts are good quality, been using one for years... I believe you can get one now which you
can use a sd card in too now and also bluetooth from your mobile..

Have you thought about a Bluetooth speaker instead? I have a Bluetooth speaker that i have used for work for years now. it was about £20, its been dropped, banged, covered in dust and it just keeps singing its little heart out.
I just stream the radio/spotify etc etc through my phone.
Obviously if you want better sound quality theres better makes and models out there but definitely worth considering

Can recommend a Sony XDR-S41D. Sound quality and reception for the price paid (£40 odd quid) has been impressive so far.
Edit. Battery life on first use was working out around 22 hours on a pack of kodak xtralife batteries. Could well be up to about 26 hours so far on a set of eneloop pro rechargeables.

Dab radio requirements to make a good fishing radio:
Amazing battery life.
Compact with no big buttons to break off.
Built in rechargeable battery.
Good sound quality.

Not mega expensive.
I have the original Pure Move and this is the standard to judge all others by.
Before this i had the carp anglers standard issue Sony am/fm, super compact and what an amazing radio.

What sort of battery life are you guys getting on these. I looked a few years ago and it wasn't great so stuck with my little FM,/AM Sony.

Agreed. I bought a dab radio roughly 6 years ago and the battery life was shocking!! Think I barely got 8 hours with something like 6 AA batteries! Went back to Roberts analog radio and the batteries last forever!
Personally, unless things have dramatically changed, I would personally stick to the most basic radio you can find for fishing as generally they are the ones with the longest battery life

you get roughly 10/12 hours solid use, sometimes more depending on use,
a couple of hours a day, it will last a good couple of days, and thats from experience,

and on the lake, i just charge it up with a pocket powerpack

I agree on the pure move I had one until the battery stopped working. At the time I didn't realise you could replace easily so I binned it ....! Still regret that.
I replaced it with a Roberts Sports Radio. This is a great little radio and a lot smaller than the pure move. Although the charge doesn't last as long I can charge it from
My power pack.

on the Pure Move the rubber on the back of mine has gone all sticky and peeling. I think I read a way of dealing with it one here once but I've forgotten so if anyone can remember

Think it was about £70, money well spent though, doesn't seem to eat batteries either. For some reason I have to use the serial when it's plugged in to a power pack.

When my Sony DAB died, I bought one of the Atom Powerpacs DAB radios. £40 & has a rechargeable battery or can run off a powerpack via a mini USB cable. Only drawback is that the screen doesn't display any of the station info or names but for a basic DAB radio, it works as well as any others I have tried.

I nearly bought the atom one but after a quick search around ebay I got the same one for less than £20, had mine a while and it does everything I need and works great. (Bluetooth speaker, sd card, usb in, fm and dab radio)

you can use rechargeable or normal there is a little switch inside the battery compartment for recharge or alkaline
if you use rechargeable the mains adaptor will also charge them

One thing I did do that I would suggest anyone wit one of the Atom type radios does, is to keep a note on your phone of what stations correspond to the tuning number. That way you can quickly find the station you are looking for if you change what you listen to. I only listen to TalkRADIO, TalkSPORT1 & 2 or BBC Radio 5 so have them stored on the programmable buttons. I still have a small list of stations numbers (not going to hand it out as that's the fun of owning one!) on my Notes app, just in case.

YES thats the one but not available for a while now I also have the Roberts play its bigger and bit heavier on batteries but great reception power
the Pure move T4 is a smaller better size for fishing IMO

😬 I can get one (refurb), I just used Amazon as the example picture. It's a choice between a refurb original, in the Amazon link, that admittedly needs a new battery which i believe you can replace, or a refurb t4.
Just not sure which one to go with.

the old pure move is just DAB ( Digital Audio Broadcasting )......the new versions have DAB+ lots of stations switching over to it !!
DAB+ is more efficient than DAB, allowing more stations to be broadcast and in higher quality if desired by the broadcaster. A radio which can only receive DAB will not be able to receive DAB+ stations. However, DAB+ sets are 'backwards-compatible' and will receive both DAB and DAB+ stations
My advice would be DONT buy the old Pure Move
however the new Pure Move T4 is

The brand name "pure" meant it commanded a premium price though many cheap variants were released as dab became more mainstream.
Not bad considering it was made in China - heaven forbid ! (designed at what was their HQ in Kings Langley UK)
T4 looks like a great replacement . Though I'm sure many cheaper options

The first two were absolute ****, can't remember the name but they were binned, took them to various places in London and Kent and could never pick up a decent signal.
The third was a Which magazine Best Buy which was one of John Lewis's own branded radios and that works great.
No good for fishing but does prove the point you need to do your homework
