Hi all,

Does anyone know of a club or syndicate doing anything special for their reopening - maybe a draw for pegs of a walk off from the gate type thing?

I'm a journalist with Reuters and trying to persuade my editors to let me do a story on anglers getting back to their waters. It would need to be somewhere the owners are likely to allow filming and it would be good to talk to a few anglers too. The idea is to catch the moment the gates open for the first time since lockdown.

My first thought was Walthamstow, but can't see when that is reopening or get hold of a ranger. Closer to London is more likely to work for purely logistical reasons.

Any tips gratefully received

Our syndicate is doing a draw at 10am tomorrow.... there are only 11 swims and around 30 members... I won't be there.

No night fishing under the current rules?

This will be a slap in the face for the masses

Makes you wonder if it was worth the effort, this is not going to go down well. 99.999% of carp fishing at my syndicate is 24 or 48hr sessions.

I expect there will be a lot of unhappy people out there if this is enforced...

But of course we should rejoice being allowed to go again as it better than no fishing at all.....

That's not true.
The current documented guidelines allow you to night fish. The AT expect further guidelines today that will prevent it. So basically no-one knows until later.

Yes, me too.

Much simpler for the government to stick to their current guidelines, that allow you to night fish, rather than put anglers under curfew with new rules.

I've reopened my place as of today. Nothing grand about it, in fact I'd be surprised if there's anyone there.
One fishing tonight, assuming that I don't hear that we can't.

Guidance on access to green spaces has been updated this morning on gov website. Still nothing to say you can't fish at night, so shouldn't be a problem.

Night fishing is allowed.

Just a quick update to say thank you to all those who got in touch. Thames Water ended up letting us into their reservoir near Oxford and we had a great day (I may even have caught one myself 🤫😁
