I use Oakley shallow water lenses in holbrook frames, they are brill imo

Eyelevel sunglasses.
I have a terrible tendency to sit on or lose sunglasses as I use mine all the time. Eyelevel are smart enough to use all the time and are polarised, so they are good fishing sunglasses as well, and at a sensible price.

Ive used maui jim hookipas for years and they are superb.

Flying Fisherman Calcutta are good, they came out as the top recommendation by a fly fishing magazine a few years back, around £30.

I've got 6 pairs of Polaroid's. A couple are Oakleys for cycling, two fishing pairs and a couple of normal sunglasses that have polarised lenses.
I'd say they all polarise about the same, the main difference is the lens colour. Different colours work better in different lights. The best ‘all rounders' are the ones with the brown/yellow lenses

I've had a pair of the eye level ones before and although they are good value they started to split across the between the lenses on the nose area .

It depends completely on budget mate. You can get a decent set of sunnies for next to nothing (the Fortis Essentials are the one if you're looking to save money). Minor improvements over the cheaper options cost big bucks.
There is no such thing as better or worse polarising, it is what it is, but there is such a thing as better or worse lenses that can be polarised. You'll find the pricey versions have multiple layers to the lenses (so top of the range Costas have 6 layers each serving a different purpose where cheaper options might just have a polarised plastic lens).
If money is no object the Costas are the one imo.

If you're real serious you want two, ideally three with different colours.
All swims have different light levels, plus the ever changing weather\sun position of course.
So three 30 quid glasses in different colours will do you better than an expensive pair at 90.
One good thing though with the top models is they become less prone to scratching.

One thing I forgot to mention!
The less light that creeps in around the sides, top and bottom makes a big difference. I have a pair ofOakley Jawbreakers I use for cycling. The wrap round nicely and although the lenses are the same as other polariods I've got because they let less light in around the edges they seem much clearer.

Does anyone have a preference in lens color for all round fishing situations ? I've only really ever used brown lenses, I've been happy with them all round but I'm wondering if I'm missing out by not using some of the other options available.

If its solely for fish spotting amber is better imo. If you're wearing them all day to shield the sun then copper is better.

Spot on Yonny. I'm amazed how few people wear amber lenses...they do look a bit daft but perfect for 99% of conditions.
I bought a pair of Oakley, shallow water prizms a couple of years ago and they are perfect for ALL light levels apart from serious gloom. I don't know how they do it.....but they do it!

I saw the same review from the fly fishing mag and purchased 2 pairs, amber and smoke and still using quite a few years later. Find them excellent for vision, lightweight and very comfortable.

Yeah, on a couple of occasions I've passed my Calcutta's to a mate who didn't have their glasses on them so that they could see what I could - and every time it's been “bloody hell, they're good, what are they?” Bought another mate a pair for his 40th, he's well impressed. Very decent Polaroid's indeed, and for the price... 👌

Fortis wraparounds for me, they are idea as they go over your normal glasses but can make you look a little .......
