I would think the bait will be the same as the originals and will continue to be made in the UK , my sorry is they start making the metalwork in china, if so no more solar for me.

Being as some of the old Mix master flavours were made by a German confectionery company that hasn't been trading for a rather long time, I doubt if many of the 'originals' can even be sourced, let alone be put into bait.

The Solarbait 'originals' are anything but original - below is a clip from the press release in 2017:-
Now, with access to new ingredients, new processes and new sourcing possibilities, the entire Solar Bait range is undergoing a transformation. The first ‘wave' of new baits, strangely, won't be new at all! Working on the heritage baits that built Soalr's reputation in the bait market, the original Club Mix, Red Herring, Top Banana and Quench baits will be the first to be re-released.
“Essentially,” explains Martin Locke. “As with all things there is a natural evolution over the years and we have tried to improve the Solar boilies over time with slight updates and tweaks as needed. With today's possibilities, it seems very strange, but the best way to move the baits forward is to go back, re-launching a selection of the very original baits, with newer baits to follow such as an uprated Candy Floss and the TunaMino baits that have been trialed by our fieldtesters for the past year.”

To be fair, very few baits will be the same as they were 20 years ago. Several products are now unavailable.

I nearly jacked it in for good when the Jolly Green Giant changed his recipe. I heard it was something to do with the EU.

Has anyone tried the flavours recently?
I would love some winter secret but I fear it won't be the same as it once was

Their squid and octopus is definitely not the same, used the old one in the 90;s had a bottle left and bought the new one, new one nowhere near as pungent as the old. Not even close !

This. It's far more astringent and 'chemical'.
On a plus side, get the original on eBay and you might find a three figure selling price when it's over.

Ok so we seemingly know that the S&O is not the same, now that is a real bummer if this is true.
Has anyone checked the ph? The original was very alkaline which was part of its unique success.
Also, has anyone actually tried the Winter Secret (now known as “the secret”) to compare to the original?

Hi
For all we know the 'new' versions are much better than the old so it would be better to actually try the 'new' bait before anyone mentions the slightest negativity regarding the bait as it's bound to be different, and this may or may not be better for the catch rates.
So, best to actually try it yourself rather than reading a response of 'it's nowhere near as pungent as it was before ....etc' and making instant judgement.

“Andy Carper” I am not asking if they are any good, I am asking if they are the original deal.
Darkol, which one of the new ones have you tried and what was your findings?

Sam, not seen the original but the Solar/Fisher baits original was made by the same German company as I mentioned earlier, so it won't be identical.

The original S&O was not a flavouring. It was an enhancer produced in Japan that was made from natural marine chemicals (e.g. DMPT) to improve the intake of koi feed.

I know you probably used the DMPT reference as an example but before someone misunderstands I can tell you categorically DMPT was not in S & O. DMPT is very acidic and S&O is very alkaline, no way is that chemically possible and no I am not a chemist just someone with common sense.
My guess on S&O is a high concentration of TMA

The fruity ones were the German ones I believe Sam, not sure about the others. My info comes from a guy who used to work for Solar and was at Savay in the 80s, good friend of mine who is a font of knowledge tbh. They were used in boiled sweets and hence didn't boil out of the baits much, which is probably why they were effective.

Gotcha. Thanks for that N.W.
Yep I'm almost certain that TMO was in the original S&O
I recently spoke about this on our podcast.
