I'm looking for an easy / quick to set up, good quality shelter that's high enough to accommodate a chair as I often fish into the small hours but not necessarily all night. Was looking at the Trakker MC-60 Brolly V2 or Fox R-Series - seems a bit low though (I'm 6ft 4').

I'm the same height as you so I use the Nash Hyde XL
Used and abused it since they first became available and cant fault it

Been using the tempest 100t , good clearance , rock solid. But will need the skull cap to avoid excessive condensation.

Looks great value. Trakker may be a bit sturdier for overnighters, big price dif though.

oh yes definitely the Trakker 100t is a different shelter all together

but then for almost £200 more you should expect it to be initially thought you said it was for day fishing ?

Im 6"3 and a tempest air will be fine you'll pick up a v1 for £100 ish I would imagine

Yes I did. I fish club waters, out of the way lakes and rivers in Holland as opposed to a busy day ticket that's cost me £20-30 for 24hrs. I prefer to be fishing first & faff around with a shelter / bivvy only if weather or the session makes it necessary as they attract a lot of unwanted attention from kids / ‘punishers' etc. 😉
I've an old JRC STI shelter & a Dave Lane model but they're more suited to bedchairs. Trakker looks ideal for an overnighter too...so I'll have to bite on the price dif. Good link much appreciated.

I've recently bought a Fox Specialist Brolly.
I have only had the chance to use it half a dozen times so far but first impressions, I like it.
It is fairly light. Fits easily into the brolly pocket of a 2 rod quiver, and is quick to put up and down.
It is designed for the river angler, with a fairly high top rib to enable watching your rod tips.
You can piss about with it a little and get it lower though.
I will say though, if I knew I was going to be fishing in stormy conditions, I would take the Tempest.

Oh how I wish that Trakker had bought this out before I bought the Trakker Tempest v2 Brolly.

I do like the Tempest v2, but it's a pain of I'm doing the day session and I want to sit inside on a chair - it doesn't happen. I'm 6'3" with a bad left knee, so me sitting on one of those low trajectory chairs does not cut it. The other thing that breaks my heart with the Tempest is no rear vents.

This brolly 100T looks just what the doctor ordered, plus it has vents. Why do you do this to me Trakker?

Having said all this, after checking the measurements, there is only 25cm difference in height.

If you want something with a lot more head height The 100T tempest brolly Is the one you want it's a hell of a lot higher at the front and internal height . I've owned the tempest v2 brolly in the past and now own the 100T brolly and it is so much better if you want much more head height

Sums up all my thoughts for quite some time. 6'1", Dodgy knee, hip bursitis sometimes rules me out all together, achilles that likes to tear at will and a bad back at times, 10" may be all that's needed. Having said that the V2 is a great shelter, if I was younger I wouldn't moan as much...then again

Actually, the more I look and think about this, the more I think that Trakker are having a laugh at the consumer.

The asking price for this shelter (it's not a brolly, that's just their marketing nonsense, what makes this a brolly?!?!) is £269.99 and it doesn't even include the groundsheet! They have gone beyond the line of greedy.

The up selling of the accessories is also a disgrace. £39.99 for the groundsheet, standard infill panel £79.99, making the total cost of this as a functioning shelter £389.97

I know up selling is the wrong terminology, and they all do it, but it's a crafty way of misleading the consumer. They put out a basic cost, but you're not going to have much fun with no groundsheet when it's pelting with rain. I'd have a tad more respect if they included the groundsheet, but no!

I've been looking at the Tempest 100T as an upgrade from my V1 brolly.

Does the 100T have the same footprint? Could I use my v1 groundsheet?
