Going to try pepperammi tommorow with some crushed dog buiscuitts in pva bag what you guys think should i givve it a go
Peperami has long been a recognised carp bait although I've never had a bite on it. The crushed dog biscuits are okay as they don't float.

Caught on pepperami a few times
It has the added benefit that you can eat it yourself if it's not working for the carp...
Small chunks about 1 cm long on the hair worked for me
The spicy one is good

Pepperami is an amazing carp bait! I rate it highly this time of year, providing the bottom is clean enough. Red one will last all night (flavours). Always got one in my bag, probably expired!

Can't remember what the actual Flavour was but it's the one in the red wrapper.
Edit - Also put your boilie needle through it a few times to release yet more Flavour.

Caught my pb carp , pb barbel , and pb pike ! On pepperami.
I remember reading a top tip in one of the mags years ago. Take them out the wrapper and rub with mud when you get there. Stops you eating them before they end up in the lake

Used to use the green pepperami lots back in the day. Very effective.
However, I have noticed, having purchased some of the mini ones recently, that it doesn't taste the same as I remembered. It might be an age thing (it was over 20years ago!) but it seems far more salty to me, which could be a bonus,
The ALDI version in green seems closest to the taste of the original I think.

I bought some of the Aldi version and it floated. Could be useful to know but definitely wasn't what I wanted when float fishing.
I've caught on a few unusual baits but catching a fish that hadn't been caught in the five years since stocking, on a 5g perch pattern jighead was a surprise.

They do one in a tough bread roll. Not easy to find but a slice is great for chub
Heads up, the Aldi and Lidl ones don't actually last well unless refrigerated
The discontinued cheesey one is without doubt the best bait I've ever used.

Using it in a bag, you can coarsely grate some skinned pepperami and Rub it together with some tasty powder like basemix, groundbait or boilie crumb or crushed dog Bix. Get the texture right it works great. Can add anything you like liquid wise.

Agreed, cheezie peperami was devestating. I went as as far as trying to make a replica with cheese and grated peperami, heated the cheese so it melted then add peperami, gunned it into 14mm sausages and chucked in fridge... Caught a few but no where near as many...
In fact after all this time I'm gonna have another go.

I remember fishing catch 22 in Norfolk in the early 2000s with it, the old man and I fish peg 1 and had over 50 runs in 24 hours. Was unbelievable.

I used to use Pepperami 20 years ago hair rigged with some rig foam on top and trim down so it was critically balanced.
And 11mm Halibut pellets as free offerings.
I had some memorable sessions, not so much in big fish but in numbers of fish using it in conjunction with the old style combi rig (amnesia boom section to soft braided hook length).

Great baits in the day. Luncheon meat, peperami and cheese. Cubes of cheese was popular around me at the time. Bet it would still work today in a world where everybody has boilie googles on these could still give you a real edge. Do question the stamp of fish these produce though. Biggest I ever took on the above baits was 26lb but that was in the 90s. Saying that I left it behind for boiled baits and trends i suppose
Around two years ago now I fished meshed luncheon meat on a large pit. 2 sessions, 3 pike on one and two on the other I gave it up. They love it
Around 10 years ago I also tried meshed bread paste around a cork ball on a park lake where they feed ducks because I knew that was the answer. It was not. Camping on said water for 2 weeks at a time was the best way to catch the biggie

In the days when the closed season applied to lakes places such as Farlows and Willow Park used to introduce a few trout and claim to be Any Method Trout Fisheries. To keep the authorities off their backs they wouldn't allow boilies and so Pepperami became the bait of choice and it worked well

I never go out without a tin of spam. A couple of places don't allow meat which is fair enough but mostly it's a bait I'll always use with success.

Hell of a result although I'm not surprised. I used to fish it over little beds of trouties and just couldn't fail.. I wonder what made it so good?

Talking of peperami, has anyone tried the peperami double crunch peanuts as a hookbaits only.. Seems carp are rather partial to a peanut and the added peperami spices could be a winner

Use bread paste for bottom bait fishing. Take the soft inner out of a crust and mould it until a paste. I used add other stuff to it too like Shiphams crab paste or a tiny bit on tinned salmon and juice, tried cheese etc too. Best left to ferment in the fridge overnight. Anything for an edge
If your using it for float fishing you need to mould it around the shank of a large hood and ensure the point is left sticking out

I hair rig a 1 cm square of crust on a short hooklength and a simple running ledger set up for bottom fishing. The bread has a natural bouyancy like a pop up. Works a treat in the margins.
Alternatively a longer hooklength with a controller float to take them off the top.
Pound for pound, bread has to be the best bait there is.

I have found the red one to be by far the best. Fish a small trimmed hookbait (skin removed) with a mesh bag of tiny pellets and little pepperami chops

Remember it does become buoyant after being in the water after longer spells

I tried it once, had an unbelievable days fishing and then couldn't find it again. Thought I was the only one who'd tried it!
Thinking about trying some of the spicy cheeses out there. Must be similar and I remember a guy bagging up on cubes of cheese on a local lake once.

When they stopped doing it we tried any number of variant, cheddar cubes, cheese strings were good, them little cheese taster thrings Tesco does, but none were like cheesey pepperami, the outside used to ooze and create like a cheesey halo around the bait. Must have tasted crap for them to stop producing it but it what a few years they were
