Positive thoughts please
Yesterday I Went to visit my uncle in hospital
sadly he is not in a good way and I hope you all give him you best positive thoughts
Michael Fisher (Mick) as most people will know him from Dartford
Has been at the front carp fishing for many years although not many people will know of him as he never advertises him self
he has been a keen angler since the fifties original mainly a match angler but moving to Carp in the seventies
he is well know for angling around the Dartford and Kent area due to his work with DDAPS and other angling clubs
sadly he is struggling at present in hospital fighting the good fight against the big C
Mick took me under his wing at a young age and taught me to fish as he did with many others

Not been a member of DDAPS for many years but remember him well along with Craig.
He might remember me as I used to fish with Peter Graves and Steve Spicer

So many of us have that person from our history who first took us and then taught us to fish. I still say a hello to my dad each time I'm on the bank.

I managed to see Mick the night before, and yesterday morning with his sons Jay and Michael just before he passed.
Glad you are at peace in the big lake in the sky, no more suffering and fighting, RIP mate.

Sad news indeed, my condolences to friends and family.
I remember Mick from around the late 80's early 90's mostly whilst he was doing his rounds at DDAPS Sutton, had a few nice chats with him over the years. Although I never knew Mick that well its always sad to hear of the loss of any of those guys from around the Darenth Valley from that era. They were such a great bunch of lads, from all walks of life and all with a love for Carp fishing. So many unique characters all squeezed around a few small waters. The banter was at times hilarious, and despite Carp fishing still being surrounded in secrecy at this time, it still felt like one big family. Everyone spoke with everyone. They were great times to be Carp fishing

I met Mick through the BCSG, of which he was an active member, lovely fella who loved his
Fishing, in addition this week we lost Jim Hindle an ex Redmire syndicate and long time stalwart of the
BCSG and now today Gary Bainbridge of poacher baits and one of Kents finest has passed .What a sh*# week

Yesterday we said goodbye to my uncle
He taught me to fish as well has helping me to rebuild two homes, The day was an emotional rollercoaster,
Laughing with friends and family one minute and in tears with the same people the next.
He was a top bloke a true friend and leaves not only a hole in my heart but a space on the bank next to me

So sorry for your loss, it is very difficlut to deal with when we are close to someone and share a passion for fishing with them.
I had a similar loss in the summer, my fishing buddy of the last 25 years passed away. It's left a huge hole in my life as I was closer to him than my father and I know I will never fish with him again. I haven't actually fished since he left us.
His ashes were scattered on Virginia Water, a lake he loved to bits and he left me the pick of his fishing gear, I gladly accepted some rods with his name on them and his favorite reels, and his lucky fishing hat, the rest of it we donated to a local fishing charity which was recommended on here, I'm sure he would have liked that.
We will always have our memories.
