As the title says really, just wondered if anyone knows a decent torch for a decent price, and confirm they actually work please 
, I cant understand why a colored torch is 4 times the price of a normal one ro be honest, but the little black beuties are starving at the moment and id rather shine a torch than sit there clapping like a bellend while they feast

There's a little more to the Tuffty torch, you can get them cheaper but you need to look at the type of LED you are getting and how many Lumens they give out.
Because of the above there are not loads on E Bay.

I have a brilliant one. It is made by a company called Daystate & sold under the AirWolf MCT banner.......
I also have one that cost me less than a Tenner from my local gun shop which has green & red additional lenses that fit over the pure white LED. Can also mount it to a storm pole with the supplied attachment & run the pig tail wire & switch to your bedchair to scare the birds away without having to move.

yeah i love the lazer in low light levels but in bright weather it does little at range and its hard to be accurate and not scare the fish, Although it doesnt seem to bother the perch in my lake at all. Ill probably buy a 10 quid torch see if that works , i think the strobe effect is usefull as well from what some have said.

Ill try one of those then, If it dont work its only a tenner and the torch can stay at home, and take the air rifle down there

I recommended the one in your first link ages ago and would still recommend it now. It does what I ask of.it, I switch it on and the buggers all flap away! Had mine over a year now, I use it regularly and its still on its first charge.
Its the only.one I've ever used, there may be better ones but I'm happy with it for a fiver

I also bought one of the ones in the link and to be honest i found it quite poor and it is no where near as bright or effective as the tufty torch that i have seen.

Just didn't seem to work on my lake it literally just turned a white swan red

Will try again.
Laser pen totally different matter, freaks the hell out of them and all other birdlife. I try to make sure that it doesn't hit the water though.

The cheap ones on eBay work fine as long as you get the zoomable one and use it on the narrowest beam

Look dopey , yes there are loads on Ebay (Red Torches) but out of them all only a few are comparable to the Tuffty torch
Therefore there are not loads on Ebay if you are looking for something cheaper but the same spec, see the posts in the thread backing this up (see post 16)

This is the one i got ebay item number 401134663628 zoomable red light, it had some effect on the tufties and malards but had none on the pochards, coots, swans but it is no where near as bright or as good as a genuine tufty torch which works far better.
But is the tufty torch worth the the extra money almost 10 x the price im not sure?

going out with my 8 quid job tomorrow for 48 hours should prove its worth or not. will update on my return, first impressions are not that confident, shall see tomorrow though.

All birds are protected by law so I don't think it's a good idea to post your intentions on shooting them on an open forum. Unless you want a firearms conviction obviously.

thanks for pointing that out, Im not really into shooting stuff myself, and think there has to be a be an easier answer, but im surprised to see that all birds are protected all year round, I was told there was a season for coots, between september and january, in which it was fine to shoot them.

Coots and moorhen: The shooting season lasts from September 1st to January 31st across England, Scotland and Wales. In Northern Ireland, the birds are protected at all times, so it's illegal to shoot them at any time in the year
I'm not sure that gives you carte blanche to sit by the bivvy with a 12 bore though

Plus you would need the land owners permission obviously.
Coots etc are not covered by the general license so even though there is a season you would need some form of hunting/shooting permit granted. Otherwise you risk prosecution.

Look on eBay item no 324360483061 , it looks very similar to the one I have and it works fine , make sure you get the zoomable one I've both and the fixed type are rubbish in comparison (in red)
