Any of you out there use a Deeper with a tablet instead of a phone? Which tablet do you use please?
Pretty much any I would think, it connects to my Amazon Fire with no problems.

I have used it with the wifes Gen1 16GB iPad Air with no problems. TBH any that supports the latest Deeper App for the operating system would be fine. They reckon that Apple devices have a lower working distance but no problems with 100yds or so with the iPad or my phone (even with cellular data turned on!)

Yep, I use an iPad with the Deeper. I stick it on the tripod I have for the camera. Not had any issues with range but not used it at its theoretical max distance anyway.

Same here, if possible could you advise on the app you use on the Amazon Fire.......

I just downloaded the app from play store and set it as you would through your phone's wifi/bluetooth. Sorry for the either or, I used it months ago and haven't touched it since and even then I found it easier to handle a phone and a rod than use the tablet.
My Grandson has now 'claimed' my tablet and has filled it to capacity with games for 3 year olds so i cannot go over it again.
Sorry for the glib reply but it really was pretty straight forward.

I use mine with a tablet, it's a small 'acer' android tablet, I think it runs on android 6 so any tablet with v6 or later will be fine, it was only a cheap one, £35 brand new from curry's on the high street, it has a 7" screen which is handy if you have to wear glasses like me I was a bit worried about the range with such a cheap tablet but it works up to 60/70 ish yards

access the Google Play Store. Download the latest version of the Deeper App that they have there & follow the prompts when setting up for first time. If you cannot access the Play Store for whatever reason, then you will need a different device or get someone that knows what they are doing with Android devices & ROOT it before installing a bog standard Android ROM onto it.

Galaxy Tab A8 . . .on a bracket, on a tripod . . .works well - range circa 100yds (don't generally fish any further than this anyway and most of the time cannot see the boats orientation anyway at this range!)
Tablet also useful for work / porn-hub / movies after dark etc. . . .great battery life - does a 48hr sesh using deeper and watching dwarf sex on both evenings no prob . . .

Pornhub 😂 I use a iPad on a tripod for my deeper I get very good range with it compared to some others apparently 🤷♀️

Phones are all so small that fitting in a decent antenna is a real challenge, you cannot change the laws of physics despite one of my customers trying to say a tiny little ceramic antenna will match a 1/4 wave dipole!

I have used several phones and several tablets with my Deeper Pro and the previous Deeper model (can't remember its name now). For best results I mount the device on a tripod/ storm pole..the higher the better. Tablet always gives better range. My current phone (a compact model) is only any good up to about 50-60m but with the tablets I have never had a range problem (normally fish less than 100m).

You will get a difference between models depending on the wifi antenna performance. This data is not published by any manufactures as far as I know and it would take a good RF engineer to give a hard a fast answer even if they did publish some data on it.
The OS will have a limited affect, it will all be down to hardware design.
I suspect that ANY tablet will be better than the average phone. However the worst tablet might be worse than the best phone...sorry but its all a bit of a lottery but the odds are much better going for a tablet IMHO.

What about using an external range booster type thing? How far could you potentially increase achievable distance? Never used a deeper but keep thinking I want one just to produce a map of the lake which I can then print and use as reference.

Just bought a used 7 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A6, £45 off ebay for that purpose along with a tripod stand and a tablet holder which is big enough to carry the tablet and my Note 8 phone at the same time so I can run the deeper app on the tablet and my Fishspy on the phone.

Never used a range booster but others have on bait boats with some success. Problem is you need to boost the range at the weakest end which is the Deeper so only works when you have bait boat to carry the booster and its battery.
I do find the mapping feature on the Deeper quite disappointing. Maybe OK on an in-land sea but for most of my fishing on waters less than 10 acres its just doesn't show the details. You can download the RAW data to other mapping software which do a better job but they are not cheap and I haven't time or inclination to really get my head around them.
I did pick up a Fishspy Echo Pro thingy off ebay a few month ago to see what they work like but not had time to try it other than watching the fish in my pond feed

Mines constantly on narrow beam mate.
Bit more casting using that method I won't got to the chirp can't see the benefit for me as the pro+ does the job.
Also run mine from Samsung tablet back on thread does the job but using my Google phone it did register further than the 100yrds stated and that was measured as well or best I could using distance sticks.
Google phone does do a better job than the tablet tbh in terms of distance but a lot more faffing zooming in and out.

I use the bridging router method described in that post & can use the deeper as far as I can cast it. Which is 90 - 100 yards.

Wrong. You can mount an amplifier in a boat but you can also use a router set up to act as a range extender on the bank.
