I'm after a new brolly system . Been looking at a few and watching a few videos and can't make my mind up any suggestions to help me narrow it down . I can't find much about the new solar brolly system but the rest of there new stuff seems to be pretty good . Thanks

The weight of the solar one was all I noticed. I thought it must be a typo but a few retailers quote 15kgs!

Crazy weight, granted that's the total weight with everything but that's double the weight of most bivvies I've had. Or maybe it's a typo by solar and the retailers have just copied it.

Totally agree mate, and it's a recurring theme - brollys the weight of bivvys. Completely avoids the point imo.

I have the Fox Ultra 60. Not had any issues with it and if you leave all the extras doors etc. at home its not as heavy. It goes straight on the tri-porter anyway so im not too fussed about the weight.

I have the mk 1 and very well designed, the mk11 with rear vents looks even better, not sure id pay the money though. Brollys seem to be getting more and more expensive, just like the rest of carp gear I suppose

I've had various 'normal' brolly type shelters over the years (Nashy profile brolly, JRC brolly, Aqua Fast and Light etc) but I would strongly suggest looking at the V1 and V2 Trakker Tempest Brolly's. MILES better than a normal brolly (for my fishing anyway) and a lot smaller/ lighter to transporting

Used a tempest air since they came out and spot on. Light, easy assembly, good coverage. Extras available is you want them (skull cap, overwrap, mozzi mesh etc.) but do without them. Can get all i need for an overnighter or weekender under them. Might be able to get one second hand.

some Brollys OR bivvies are similar weights without the groundsheet fronts etc ?
the Wychwood MHR HD 60" brolly is 6kg decent height and room the complete system inc 4 supplied storm poles ground sheet is only 10kg
most bivvies are that or more I think

I'm on my third brolly.
First was a Wychwood Solace 60" HD and it was superb. Brilliant build quality and fantastic material.
Got fed up with banging my head on the spokes so when they launched the MHR version I went for one.
Nice brolly, but the material was nowhere near as good. It never leaked or ripped or anything, but after the luxury of the HD I was a bit disappointed with it.
Swapped out earlier this year to the Tempest V2. Absolutely love it. Fantastic bit of kit. Doddle to put up and down, super lightweight and am happy with the material, although it's still not as good (material wise) as the original HD that I had.
The only thing that I may do to it is have a couple of vents put in the back (Army Andy) but other than that, so glad I made the change.

You may be right. I've used one of these for a few years until I got my v2 brolly.
Weight 4.8kgs including too many pegs and groundsheet. I have a wrap for it too that I'm not sure the weight of but without the groundsheet I'd say it'll be 8kgs max.
To my mind a brolly system is for mobile anglers who want quick setup, lightweight and enough coverage, so I was a bit surprised to see some weigh more than a tempest bivvy, titan etc

Sorry to resurrect this, but I've just had the displeasure of buying a Wychwood HDMR mkII system. On first use it leaks from the seam on the rib where the plastic retainer clip for the short storm pole is so water either drips on your head or feet. I sent it back, got a refund and bought another one elsewhere as I like the design of the whole thing. Lo and behold, the second brolly leaked in exactly the same place. Wychwood don't want to know - told me I just must be incredibly unlucky (maybe it was karma for owning a Fox supabrolly that was fine for years and years. It's probably repairable but it's not the point, 2 brand new brollies both leaked the first night they were put up from exactly the same place. Think I'll just bite the bullet and go Trakker or something.

Don't alot of good reps in the tackle industry go to s##t sooner or later? Sometimes it's just individual products that bring them down though.
Let's hope this is a blip, they've made some good gear over the years.

Tempest brollies really are hard to beat mate. Its modular aswell so you can buy the base brolly and add what you want to it

To be fair to Wychwood, after 3 weeks they have got back to me today and are sort of sorting it out. Well, they're sending me some sealant and a few freebies. Not ideal, but if the sealant (Aquasure) stops the leak I guess it's better than binning what is otherwise a brand new brolly.

Aquasure is a marvelous product but shouldn't really be their answer to fixing the problem certainly one I wouldn't accept.

Wow. ‘Here's some sealant, fix it yourself' is absolutely shocking. It would be going back and I'd buy something else.
Fwiw I've just got the Solar Undercover brolly system and it's sound. Doesn't leak anyway...
