When I fished woolpack, years ago before it was fashionable. There was a chap, I think he might have been called Ian, who used to get the train and then cycle to the lake. Rods strapped to the frame, Titan bivvy on his back. He used to catch a lot of fish as well. That's proper mobile angling.

Used to get the train to Cemex Sutton quite often and Chilham Mill was handy as the platform was next to the lake, just a short trip through the bushes!
The best one was always getting off the Victoria Line at Victoria on a Saturday night after a day on Walthamstow!

used to quite regularly see a chap on the Victoria Line at Tottenham Hale on my way to work, sod that at rush hor!. guessing he was going to Walthamstow. nothing worse than seeing someone going fishing as i was going the other way to the office!
In the past have travelled down to both DDAPS Horton kirby and Brooklands lake by train From Bromley South. Kirby being only a 15 minute walk from Farningham Rd station.
When I first started fishing for Carp in the late 80's early 90's me and a few pals used to travel down to The Chi pits and the Ballast pit in Tonbridge for a few days from East Croydon station. This was in the days before all this ultra light weight mobile kit we have today. Fox bedchair, big rucksack and twelve ft rod holdall. The guards use to let us travel in there carriage this was in the days of slam door trains. Would hate to do it nowadays Then us all jumping in a taxi at the other end. Young and keen, Proper mission.

Used to get on the train from Bromley South down to Faringhan road station to fish Horton Kirby and Sutton at hone too. Fortunately only day sessions so not all the gear needed for an overnighter.

Taxi or walk to Ipswich or Derby Road Station, From Ipswich to Cambridge, Cambridge to Broxbourne then taxi to Nazeing walk round to where I fancied, where I would get a mate to look after my gear while I went to get water and food shopping for a week.
Bedchair, Tackle Box, bait bucket, rucksack and rods and bivvy in rod holdall.

I wouldn't even consider it! Things are so volatile you could find yourself trapped abroad or isolating at home for 2 weeks on return. Put it off until next year when things should be hopefully getting back to some sense of normality.

I know people who have travelled to France and didnt bother self isolating when they got back
Couldn't afford to loose the work was their excuse

Personally I'd just see what the rules are for returning when you go and if you can go and get back without issue I would go. Many people would choose not to go but I've travelled into Europe several times through the pandemic for work and had no problems. Each to there own though !

Stacked my motor in Vienna last week, so whilst that is getting fixed I'm getting o. The bendy bus this weekend to a local pond. Will be actually quite refreshing just having a back pack and a rod, than having everything but the kitchen sink with me

Around 5 years ago I lived in the Square Mile in London. Had to get a bus to Liverpool street, a train to Tottenham Hale and what felt like a 5 mile walk just to the gates of Walthamstow. Moved south or river now and not been for ages.
