Has anyone purchased or used the new Sonik Xtractor rods?

If so has anyone got any opinions etc? tia

I haven't got any but seen them and had a feel in the shop and they look brilliant for the money, much nicer than nash dwarfs, weather they perform as good as they look/feel I don't know

I had 2 10ft arrive yesterday with the Daiwa GS4000 reels from TFT. Yet tO get out and use them but they feel very nice. Got rid of my old dwarfs for them. But disappointed that the skins aren't available yet not that I'm very keen on them. Probably end up in an old scope double rod bag tbh if they fit

They won't fit the scope luggage range just like the dwarfs would not . They may fit in the dwarf luggage

Yes I did read but Erics have said they will not fit in new Scope stuff as reel seats are in difference place they are in the same place as the Dwarfs which didn't even fit the old stuff because of the same problem.

Wasn't it the dwarfs would fit the scope sleeves but not the other way round?
I'd take anything a shop says, who want to sell you the most expensive rod or multiple luggage items, with a pinch of salt.

Dwarfs do fit the scope luggage. Upside down if that makes sense. Got the tip from someone on here

Ok, the Extractor 10ft fits in both my single and double Nash Black Ops rod sleeves with ease with a Shimano 5500 XTD reel attached. .....they are however the "big pit" versions so not sure if this makes a difference or not...

Anyone used these yet?

Not actually used them yet, bought a set for my lad this week and first impressions are, how the hell do you make a rod that good for £65, got 10ft 3.25lb TC, really nice through bend that goes down to above the reel seat. Could well see me getting a set for myself.

seen these at the show today,for the money these are exceptional rods, obviously i havent played a fish or cast withbthem,but in the hand theyre lovely and light,felt nice in the hand,nice length handle,nice mat black finish with minima rings.if i was in the market for a 9 or 10ft rod these would be my first choice rather than dwarfs for sure, and with spod rod in the pipe line aswell this range of rods will be a massive hit for sure

Same here, seen em today and had a good bend with a bloke on the stand. Impressed by them for the show price of £50 each.
A mate bought 3 yesterday with some Penn reels for same price as 2 Gnash Scope rods of 10ft 3.5tc

Going to order 4 and give them some stick.. only feedback I've heard is the handles are short so first guide is miles from the spool but blanks seem kosher.

Old thread, but just want to say that i'm using these rods (in corked version) for over a month now and i really love them!
Using the 10ft 3.5lbs version and they're pretty powerfull.
Been using 5oz solid bags at distances up to 60yds, even though i feel i haven't reached the limits yet.
Playing a fish on them is not the greatest fun, but i have no problem with that.
I you're looking for an affordable set of short(er) rods, buy with confidence.

I dont have time to fish for more than about 3 hours at a time at the moment so i bought 2 of these in 9ft 3.5lb

Great little rods that ive used for everything from big pva bags to surface fishing. Pack up tiny and fit in an old infinity unhooking mate. Very pleased with them

Ive just looked and you're absolutely correct. 9ft 3lb

I'm also using a set of these - 10' 3.25lb TC and am really happy with them. No longer do I need to start putting seats down etc in the car to get the rods in!

Can't wait for the spod rod to be released although I emailed Sonik recently to see when it was likely to be and unfortunately, they said it would be 2020 now.

I just received my 9ft 2.75 Xtractor yesterday and was quite surprised at how pokey it actually is. A 2.25 would have been perfect for me, but I am looking forward to trying it out.
Cheap enough, so I think my initial impressions are favourable enough for me to order another.
One slight concern, is that the blank looks very thin walled to me, just hope they hold up, as I have heard that Soniks aren't always the most robust rods

They fit the nash dwarf double skin perfect

I have 2 9ft 3.0tc they are really good rods for the compact angler, im impressed by them. Had a few double figure carp on them. and yes they fit in the nash 9 ft double scope bag and so does the sonik vader x 2 piece net. and the r9 transporter but the r9 is a bad design in my eyes.

I've just got two cork 3lb 9ft and they are stiff tbh but didn't have any hook pulls on the four fish I got last session, obviously have to put a bit more grunt in a cast with them.

robbo carper do they deffo fit the r9 transporter ? was looking at the older versions on ebay when they come up didn't want to waste time and money if they fit newer one guessing will fit older transporter

After using the 10ft 3.5s for a while i found them slightly too stiff for my liking.
So i got the 3.25s as well and i absolutely love them!
Had fish to upper 30 on them so far and they were more then powerfull enough and more enjoyable to play a fish on.
Using the 3.5s as spomb rod (with the mini and midi spombs) and markerrod.

Any further reviews on these?

I was thinking of the 10ft 3.25 tc versions for a few small waters up to 6 acres.

Is the handle the same length as the scopes does anyone know?

you are in luck my father in law has just bought some 10ft 3.25 and we were out recently and looking at the difference between his xtractors and my scopes. His are 10ft mine are 9ft. The handle on the 10ft xtractor is not as long as the one on the 9ft scope. Not a lot in it maybe 3 inches.

I had 3 10ft 3.25 TC out yesterday, lovely casting rods with far more punch than I expected (couple of rigs in the trees.....)

Didn't managed to test the playing action as the session was a blank but the rods seem solid & are surprisingly soft in the tip.

This was casting 4oz Solid bags up to 50 yards no issue at all- haven't been able to compare to the Scopes & ended up buying a Cult Tackle 3 rod 10ft sleeve which fits these perfectly (though would prefer more internal padding.

Will let you know if/when I get them out again & will try compare to a mates 10ft Scopes & bag

Lovely to play fish on and still plenty of backbone for a decent cast and to block a fish in case needed.
Had a very powerfull 35+ common in a snaggy situation last week. No problem at all.

The more i use mine, the more i like them. I had an upper 30 from farlows on a solid bag at just under 70yds that dragged me through loads of weed

9ft 3lb. Says it all really

Anyone tried them I'm the 6ft they only seem to do them at 3lb and I'm abit worried they will be like broomsticks

I want to get 6ft scopes. I spoke to Alan Blair the other day as I had heard he uses 2lb. He said he does but then generally he is fishing for smaller fish. Oli uses the 3lb ones as he is fishing for bigger fish upper 20s and 30s. Alan said if he knows he is going to be fishing for bigger fish or there are snags around he will use the 3lb ones. Daiwa Emblem blacks, are they massive though?
Daiwa black widow 25a, cheap and cheerful?
Daiwa ninja 4000/5000?
Daiwa SS2600?
Shimano ultegra 5500 xtd? I have the CI4 already and they are ace.
Sonik something or other 5000
And a small fox reel.

Would prefer black as I'm a tart at heart.

Another reel that works well on 9ft rods is the Wychwood Extricator 5000FD.

Compared to the Ultegra 5500 xtd, which I also have, the spool is the same diameter but a shorter stroke and the reel weighs 20% lighter. Quality feels at least equal to the Shimano, drag is smooth and fairly quick without being silly. The finish is matt black with a nice wood handle and standard spool is silver which looks nice with line on, but the optional black spool looks nicer, and there is even a gold spool if that floats your boat.

I tend to leave some rods made up with the Wychwoods and some with the Shimanos, and use the Wychwoods if I am likely to be fishing less than about 60 yards and the Shimanos for anything further. I often take one or two of each with me and place them on wonky single sticks for a pleasingly unmatched setup.

They fit in the dwarf bag perfect as they have shorter handles like dwarfs.

Has anyone had any issues with their xtractors breaking? I ordered a set to take to france in a couple of months, its not a big lake and lots of stalking spots so thought they'd make a nice change from my 12ft's. Took them to the lake just to check the casting, second cast the top section cracked and split around the joint. looking at the finish it would appear to me to be a bit of a Friday afternoon job with the other 2 and the replacement all looking fine. That said i'm now a bit concerned taking them to France as my main set. I searched around and haven't found any reports of breakages unlike the dwarfs but thought I'd just check here to put my mind at rest.

I just received my 10 foot Xtractors today. They both fit nicely in the Nash duo dwarf rod carryall. That's with Dominator X 8000s on them.

Picked the 10ft 3.25tc up today

What a disappointment. Firstly noticed the 1st eye has what must be either a resin or lacquer on the inside of the eye d
Then when putting the rod together noticed the 1st eye on the 2nd section is about a qtr of an eye out compared to the others on the top section
Absolute junk to be honest really badly put together, the eyes on the top section basically corkscrew unevenly up the section.

Really disappointed to the point I wont consider any Sonik gear now, this one doesn't even come close to being acceptable. Obviously Chinese trash.
Sonic need to sort out their QC because this one should of been chucked in the bin straight off the production line

You must of been unlucky, but yes agreed if it's that bad then shouldn't of been sold and passed QC

I just measured my 10' 3.25tc Xtractors and they are just over 4tf when packed down. I see lots of comments about the Xtractors fitting in Dwarf luggage but no one mentioned the size of the Dwarf holdalls/bags being used.

Do 10ft Xtractor's fit in 9ft Dwarf luggage? (I'm looking at getting the Dwarf 3 rod carry system)

I have the 10ft extractors can't comment on the dwarf luggage but I use the cult compact 10ft rod holdall
If its any use when I bought my cult holdall I ordered the 9ft by mistake and it was too small so sent it back

I have the insurgent recon, i also use the culd 3 rod hold all it fits in nicely with my big pits lots of room. Very well built bag.

10 foot scopes (which I believe are exactly the same length as 10 ft extractors when folded down) just fit in the 10 foot dwarf sleeves so I doubt the 10ft would fit 9 foot sleeves

Hi mate

I have some wychwood neoprene rod protectors and there is about an inch of room

Really rate the cult takle 10f 3 rod bag, loads of room in there for my 3 10ft xtractors and net and xpod go on the outside, just need to come up with a celver way to put the retainer on it and i will be sorted. Should add that i also have 3 x 5000t fitted at the moment as cant decide on what reels to put on the 10ft's
