That's the green lens,was looking at the deep blue but the reviews are saying they are more for deep sea fishing ?
Did you but the wrap rounds?
All I need to do is buy the lens because I already have flak jacket frames.

I have tested them several times and can't see any better with my Fortis wraps for £20 than my Costas for £200.
The Costas look better and are more comfortable to wear all day but don't give me an edge over the cheaper glasses in terms of fish spotting.
Maybe for deep water fishing or all day on the flats in the tropics I would spot the difference, but in U.K. sunlight fishing for carp I can't see more with the “better” polaroids.

I have them but only recently bought and not really worn yet, cutti agree probably better for bright run and clear ocean.

I e just got a pair of the shallow water prizms. They are very, very good. I have fished for at least 30 years with polarised glasses and these are the best I have used.
Be very wary of cheap deals.....most are copies, good copies but a total waste of money.
Try Uttings, they were selling them for about £120. The cheapest legitimate source that I was comfortable with.

it's fine, didn't take it as a dig and I fully understand your thoughts on discounted items and have seen many dodgy looking UK sites with seemingly amazing prices, too good to be true......

I've got the Black/Grey Polarised Lenses in my Oakleys and find them spot on for almost ALL of my fishing, the only time I find them struggling is in really low light levels.
I've worn Oakleys for fishing for the past 10yrs Minimum.
There is a huge difference in the clarity between good lenses and cheap lenses.

I agree, a significant difference between quality and average lenses.... not least in the reduction in eye strain.
I bought a pair of Oakleys last year, just to have a good pair of sunnies and went for the polarised lenses, as you do. In all honesty I never intended to use them for angling as they were pretty dear, about £160. I could have bought 8 pairs of cheap ones for that.
However......I soon found that on the odd occasion when I would park up and have a quick look at the lake, wearing my oakleys, the clarity was far better than with my fishing glasses and I found myself wearing them all the time, discarding my angling glasses to the pile of unused tackle in the shed.
The shallow water versions have taken this to a new level. Quite simply the best glasses that I have worn, in my opinion they are cheap!

i used to use the oakley flak jacket sunglasses (that doubled as my golf glasses) but moved to a pair of polarised raybans, cant fault them.

So out of interest, with the shallow water ones, how shallow/deep can you see with them. Are we talking a few feet, or is 'shallow' a bit of a wrong description for the vision into the water?
Also, anyone know how the Prism ones are looking into water, what sort of depth the generally go to and maybe even how they compare to the shallow ones?

I have a couple of pairs of Oakley Bottle Rockets, the angling specific versions. Grey mirror lens and blue mirror for strong light. They're just awesome and compared to brands like Costa, way better looking, better value and more comfortable to wear IMO. Definitely Oakleys every time for me.

They lens itself isn't that dark to look at its quite light with a rose tint, I've been down the lake with them and they are perfect much better than my ice iridium lens which had a grey base so these ones with a rose base makes it lighter.
I can see 4 to 6 feet down no problem in the margins in clear water. When it's cloudy they still work . Well happy both go Sure about the shallow water ones as they have a grey base and have a green lens, the reviews I've read say they are more for bass and trout fishing so I could imagine they won't go as deep.

I have Ray Ban Clubmaster metal around £188.00 and Ray Ban Justin around £150.00 much better then cheap shades study and work well for fishing.

It's funny how this forum changes. A while back I enquired about Oakley Polaroids on here, only to be jumped on by a few people who said polarised is polarised is polarised. All the same and no matter what the make you will see no difference. Wish when I asked I had received this kind of feedback instead.

TBH I think that those of us that were posting that got tired of being told that we were wrong. Including the chap who worked in the industry and understood optics properly...
Beats me why glasses with lenses designed for sight fishing on knee-deep white sand flats in blinding sunlight, or deep sea fishing in the Carribean would be the first choice for carp fishing in the U.K. but the people who buy them appear to be happy with the choice

Have been tempted by the oakleys a few times - I'm a big fan of their general shades and ski goggles (up to 7 pairs now). Oakley optics on all previous buys have been superb but the major reason I have splashed out is for eye protection.
I'm not sure if there is much difference between cheap polaroids and better quality ones for UV protection but being effectively blind in my left eye due to a nice scar across my retina makes me a bit protective of my good eye. I feel alot happier spending an extra few pounds protecting my eyesight

On my second pair of prescription Oakley shallow water sunglasses and I really can't express how good they are. Especially on the river looking for Barbel and Chub.
The deep water ones are superb for bright sunshine when sailing or boat fishing but not quite as good for fish spotting on lakes or rivers.
Luckily I have a pair of each and to me it was worth the investment.

I got a pair of corrected, polarised Oakleys about 5 years ago, paid over £300. Been all over the world with them and love them. Now used so much, that I need a new pair. Any suggestions on where to buy from if I can supply them my prescription? Cheers.

I've been eyeing up a decent pair of fishing sunny's for a while but can't make a decision on the best lenses. When living abroad always used to wear decent polarised lenses but they were often a brown-base and weren't ideal for fishing, particularly on a grey-ish/half & half UK day.
Does anyone know about this stuff in enough detail to give a decent recommendation? Would probably go Oakley if I had a choice, the Costa's look a bit bulky. Looking for something that will work through the summer but not be too dark in the rest of the year.

End of last year I bought some prescription Oakleys with their polarised black lenses (think they are the iridium ones) went for those so I can wear them on a daily basis, cost a small fortune but they are great

I have the Oakley flak jacket XL with shallow water lenses.
They are superb however please make sure you look after the lenses as they scratch very easily and are v expensive to replace

I wasn't very impressed with my oakleys, less comfortable and easier to scratch than a £40 pair from boots, also no tension on the arms in folded position so if I hooked them on my collar while in shade, they would fall off easily. Nothing in it lens wise, in terms of clarity, distortion and polarising

I've not had any trouble with mine scratching but, like anything expensive, I look after them. They are superb glasses.

Frames make the biggest difference for me, I like rayban frames and haven't really worn the oakleys I got last time I was in duty free.

I had the dark grey lenses in mine, I like that colour for general use, but also have brown and yellow glasses with my kit.
To be fair, all the scratches on mine probably came from the regular falls from 5ft
