I have noticed that my orders from AD are taking up to 2 weeks to deliver, despite all items showing in stock. Before this, service was superb. Shouldnt have to keep phoning them to give them a nudge.
Anyone else noticed that the service/delivery times are slipping?

Had a very slow delivery after the 10% discount weekend, I put it down to the increase in business and their warehouse staff not being ramped up accordingly. A another small order I placed since was dispatched same day and delivered very quickly.

I ordered 3 things all posted courier and arrived within 3 days. I didn't realise it was 10% off lol maybe why I got stuff quicker as I didn't use discount lol

They can not monopolize the market so always will be other places to go and once sales slow down and overheads get bigger and bigger stores will close and jobs lost.Look at woolworths they did exactly the same

Overheads...just like, House of Fraser, M&S, etc. Fishing trade is no different, Business number crunchers rule!
Business rates, PAYE wages, freehold property maintenance, Electric, Gas, Water, etc, very rarely year on year do these costs come down, they nearly always go UP.
Tackle percentage margins are limited, and if they don't shift big volumes, then hit slack periods, problems can build up. Stock levels will then drop, and customers go elsewhere.

My online experience has always been good, that was around 2 years ago though. Very professional over the phone (head office). My local shop pears poorly stocked though.
One and only time I used them I had an issue with the item and their customer services were piss poor. Lesson learned. Never again.

First of all you said they were buying up everyone else so why couldn't they monopolize the market? There is a pivot point in every industry/market.
Second, why would sales slow down? If they increase their footprint sales will go up, you got to buy it somewhere.
Third, why will overheads get bigger? this is incorrect. Granted wages will rise and buying costs would increase but this would be no different than for any independent. Rental if they have any sense will be on fixed term agreements and any mortgages will be factored in and decrease not increase anyway. Any increases get passed on to you and me anyway.

Overheads...just like, House of Fraser, M&S, etc. Fishing trade is no different, Business number crunchers rule!
These two businesses actually make a lot of profit, it seems to have bypassed a lot of people that these companies are downsizing due to PROFIT warnings, goes to show how ****ed up things have become when you're laying people off despite making a handsome profit.
Tackle percentage margins are limited, and if they don't shift big volumes, then hit slack periods, problems can build up. Stock levels will then drop, and customers go elsewhere
I would bet that the key driver behind ROI in this business will be keeping stock levels at an absolute minimum, why have 10 of something sitting on a shelf not making you money when historical sales information says two of this item will last you 3 months.
How do you know tackle percentage margins are limited? Trust me with their buying power they will be better off than any other company out there.

What are you talking about mate? Woolworth's has never been fined for monopolizing anything, what were they going to monopolize ? toffees ?
It doesn't work like that mate anyway, the Monopolies and Mergers Commission/Government make those sorts of decisions, i should know, i work for a company that has been going through this in Europe, America and China following our purchase of another business for £billions. No one will give a monkeys about a few two bob shops in the Carping sector anyway.
Woolworth's did get fined for price fixing in Australia, that's a different ball game. Delkim have been guilty of that for years!!
Once again i have experience of this, a company i worked for was fined over a £billion for price fixing, i even had a 24 hour number to call if the authorities knocked on my door and took my lap top

Can't be any worse than what I had last week from Eric's I bought the new ridgemonkey bivvy light, paid bloody £40. The courier forged my mrs signature and stole my parcel, spoke to all neighbours just to check nothing there. I rang Eric's to tell them this and even said I could prove we was both at work (me and my mrs) with time sheets at the time is was “delivered” or should I say stolen, got no help at all from Eric's and they even just kept refusing to returning phone calls then in the last phone call basically laughed me off the phone.
So ended up £40 down the drain and had to buy it elsewhere then was fuming, will never use Eric's again they are useless

You can't claim from the courier company as their contract was with Eric's.
However if you paid by card, contact the credit card or bank as appropriate.
As the purchase was for less than £100 the credit card company isn't legally obliged to repay you but in most cases they will under the "chargeback" scheme. Chargeback also applies to all debit card transactions whatever the value.
If you paid by PayPal contact them.

Uk mail bud
I have tried to dispute it with them but every time I speak to them they basically say they will send the driver round to the address he “delivered” it to but nothing happens. I even waited in for him/her one day but he never turned up then he told his boss he spoke to my mrs, apparently she was in her dressing gown and he knows her from school.
Best part 1 she was at work, 2 nobody even came to the house because I waited in all day and 3 my mrs went to school in a different country lol (mrs dad was in the forces)
Uk mail just said they wasn't willing to send them round again and Eric's then said they basically believe the courier, also there was nothing they could do about it because they have proof it was delivered
As for our time sheets they didn't even want to no about it just glad it was “only” £40 and not something more expensive like rods, reels or a bivvy etc

I'd give the courier company a week or say you'll get the police involved. It's theft, plain and simple. Courier companies don't like having a thief in the ranks, albeit you should go above the local depot manager's head.

I once answered the door to a courier that I'd kept waiting (I was on the karzi!). He was halfway back to his van when I at last answered the door. The parcel was lying on the door step. I asked him if he wanted me to sign his electronic gizzmo. He told me that he'd already done it!
I bought a 43" tv in the sales waited for it to be delivered then in the afternoon got a text saying your TV has been delivered ?
I of course got in touch with the courier company who sent a picture of the box on the doorstep of a house with a red door I sent them back a picture of my blue front door ! it was delivered 20.00 that evening to me

Oh don't worry lads I won't just let it go, just thing it's disgusting we work for our items we order why should someone just get away with stealing it?
I bet there's a lot of Angling Direct customers posting on and reading this thread, myself included. I'm sure it wouldn't do any harm to send a link to their customer services. They'll be a big account for the courier and should be exerting pressure to get the theif identified and dealt with.

Just an observation here, but I think the driver must have delivered the item to the wrong address
Have you checked the delivery address with AD?
Is there a similar address nearby, as in such an such ave/drive/ etc instead of road/street?
Perhaps somebody locally has your item and just waiting for you to knock on their door?

A lot of carrier companies send you a text to say 'parcel delivered' when it hasn't been.
The driver can only adjust the delivery schedule once if he/she gets delayed, so they simply sign off the parcel as delivered. Most drivers will take it back to depot at end of day, where they send a delayed delivery text, or try to put it somewhere 'safe'.
I have had a delivery go missing that I paid for by Paypal from a tackle manufacturer. The email invoice was correctly addressed, the Paypal receipt was correctly addressed, and I got a text saying parcel delivered, only it hadn't been. Obviously I debated it, and the Paypal refunded my money within 24 hours.
A week later the woman from number 9 came to my flat at number 6 with a parcel, which her daughter had signed for while she was housesitting.
The parcel advice note and label were correctly addressed, but the carrier delivery manifest stickers were addressed to number 9.

I have no guilt in using ebay. If companies don't want to use it as a platform then more fool them. Its like companies that fail to use any form of card terminals. If you want to let money walk past your shop door then thats down to you.
If a bloke selling one book at a carp show can provide a card terminal then I fail to see why businesses cannot sell online.
Adapt or die.

While we can all appreciate that it's frustrating when you want something to turn up for a trip and it doesn't, it think you may be jumping the gun a bit here. 48 hours doesn't usually include weekends, so assuming you ordered in time for shipping on Thursday you were never going to get the delivery until today. All the sites have disclaimers about shipping disruption, I'd say 24 hours late wasn't too bad compared to some of the stories on here.
Ordering from AD is akin to ordering from Argos, you'll never be able to talk to someone accountable for your order so always a risk of error.

Yes and here we are two years later and they're still at it... very misleading how they communicate expected delivery dates and if you look on TrustPilot, there are quite a few who agree. They're saying 3 -5 days delivery, but what they're not telling you is that kicks in only once they have picked and dispatched - which seems to be as when they can be bothered. If you complain, as I did, they blame it on Covid - it's only been nearly a year now, so you'd think they would have got their house in order - as most online retailers now have.
I only buy from AD when I have to - I've had items arrive poorly packaged and of late, deliveries times are very much hit and miss. Overall, I think they have improved though. I returned an item last year and it was all sorted very quickly with no fuss - previously, I'd end up having one of their staff arguing with me and then have to chase them for a refund. But, many I know won't use them - pal of mine bought a JRC chair off them and it had mud on all the feet and something very dodgy looking on the seat itself - let's hope it was fish slime. Clearly, someone had used it, returned it and they'd sent it straight out without checking it. I would say that's an easy mistake to make, but it isn't.
Great customer services is now a USP. Just look at how Johnson Ross do things - a shining example to others in the trade and probably why so many of us use them. As to AD sucking the life blood out of the local tackle shops - just look what they did with Simpson's of Turnford

I ordered a catapult from them but when it arrived the elastic had deteriorated, so took it back the shop as advised on the phone.
When I got there I was told I had to send it back by post, but after a few choice words the y agreed to do a swap.
To cut a long story short they told me to grab a replacement off the rack, but in doing so I found 3 of the 5 there had also deteriorated. When I took them all to the counter to show them, they insisted I put them back on the rack.

i recently ordered some PVA and a few other bits from Angling Direct on a monday for use on the saturday.
by thursday night i still had no email saying the order was being dispatched etc so i ended up doing click and collect on the friday.
the original order then arrived on the following tuesday evening..
my next order i used Total Fishing Tackle and the item arrived the next day, with the standard postage option

I ordered 3 reels on Monday afternoon, didn't pay additional for express delivery as in no rush for them. They were delivered within 48hours via parcelforce 24hr express delivery so can't fault them on this occasion

My experience with this company frankly has been bad after returning a new chair? as it was not suitable the atitude of the shop manager was rude and insulting totally unwarranted it left me very angry. I purchased the chair took it home examined it. I contacted customer service explained my reason for returning it and within a few days returned it as agreed unused in the condition I had purchased it. It was all downhill from then on, I have been a customer for a considerable time I have never been treated so rudely/badly . So never again will I use that particular company.

My first order with them went pretty smoothly, was surprised it came by royal mail tho, I've often cancelled orders with other shops if I see they use them

definitely not the swiftest of mail order. Usually up to a week in my experience. I used harefield tackle the other day and the item arrived next day at no additional cost.
