Fished a low stock water with lots of Canadian in it, used a 4oz breakaway sea lead, cleared a few small areas, chopped my boilies in half so they fluttered down in the water getting stuck in the Canadian at all depths, bit like a Christmas tree effect, match the hatch pop ups, ( washed out look), on stiff hinge rigs, worked a treat, hope this helps.

Been using a breakaway lead for years now, brilliant for clearing weedy areas, i always put a couple of plastic bag ties around the middle of the lead securing the prongs in place so it doesnt open.
