I'm sure nylon will be fine if you put a few blobs of putty up above the top bead .. that will help sink the line ...

3 short lengths of tungsten tubing above top bead works fine. I use them at 2 inches long,they slide up the line during the cast, I put a pva tape stop knot at some point above tubing just to stop them separating to far but that's a personal choice.

Ive gotten away with just using normal mono, checked it in the edge and it all appeared to stick to the deck.
Chatted to a lad who only uses naked chods and I asked him what line he was on and it was just the standard Thinking Anglers mono; he was getting a few bites from a tricky-ish water
