View post on imgur.comI had a very trusty old Makita caulking gun that I adapted into a bait gun. It lasted for years, then The Tackle Box gave me a prototype Cox lithium bait gun to test out, with a view to selling them in the shop (which never ended up happening). It was much lighter than the old trusty Makita... But last week it gave up the ghost for no reason whatsoever. The Makita was dug out, but a couple of years of no use and this had seized up and was no longer working either!
We needed a gun for work quickly, a Makita or a Cox lithium powered caulking gun is upwards of £250... So I took a chance on one off of Fleabay for £89.99 delivered. 20v lithium battery, and UK stock (Delivered in two days). I sort of figured for £90 it was worth a punt.
It's been in use now for the past few days at work... And it's pukka. Although obviously Chinese (sore subject at the mo)... It's VERY good for the money (comparable with the £269.99 Cox) All of the attachments are the same size threads as Gardner/Cox so are interchangeable. I can't put a link up, as this one was the last available from the seller who is now out of stock. I'm sure there will be more up soon, I'll be getting another when there is.
An absolute godsend at that price for you home bait makers. A manual Gardner deluxe gun is £50.

I have ordered two more for work. (One to keep as a spare). They are absolutely incredible for the money, you will not be disappointed. I'd say that the gun is much better than the £270 Cox version. Pushes through very stiff mixes with ease. All external attachments fit from the Gardner/Cox manual guns. The only difference, is a small difference in length of main barrel and the plungers are not interchangeable either (diff thread)... So the barrels are not interchangeable.... Everything else is.
My only very small gripe, is a small touch of paste gets behind the plunger when using very wet mixes, this is only due to the plungers supplied having small expansion gaps... Super easy to clean at the end of the day by screwing off the barrel. When I get a chance I will MOD this to stop this happening. It has a battery meter on it, so far I've not managed to run it down at all... And that's using it morning till night. The battery seems superb and charges very quickly.
The trigger control is also fantastic, far better than the Cox version.

Mine arrived Friday and I used it for the first time that evening, fantastic! I enjoyed using it so much I got up early Saturday and did another batch!
As TCarper said, it charged quickly and after 2 x mixes it still was fully charged. The nozzle end of my Gardner gun unscrewed and fitted straight on.
Obviously can't give long term reviews but initially very impressed, I hope it lasts

How loud are these, sounds pretty loud on the video?

It's makes a bit of noise but it's certainly not too loud, no different from any electric tool type thing.

Cheers, only asking as I usually make bait on a night when the kids are asleep so don't want anything too loud.

Used mine last night for the first time with a dry/stiff mix and both small (12mm) and big (18mm) nozzle sizes. Worked perfectly and it could have gone faster than I could keep up with.
My only concern is how long will the battery last and will it be possible to get new batteries in X years time when its dead. To be honest if that becomes a problem I will just add a power cord and plug top PSU as I don't really need cordless for bait making
For the money this is a great buy IMHO
I also got a £40 'commercial' fryer off ebay (item 174392865303)...why did I not get that before. Quick to boil and gets straight back to the boil with 1/2kg of bait dropped in it. It is made with paper thin stainless steel but it does a great job for £40
