Painter has thrown a blind away that I didn't want to be thrown away it's in the skip in pieces. He's solution was a couple of hooks and netting or curtains he has at home.
Also
Some paint went on the sofa not covered properly and he's scrubbed it so hard no the colouring/ dye has come off that part of the sofa.
Where do I stand ?

Get an estimate your happy with to replace or correct the damage, then deduct the amount from his bill, If he doesn't like it, he can be the one who has to chase around for his mistakes not you.

That's what I would do, but don't make it known to him, just deduct the amount and promptly pay the balance, assuming of course no further damage or losses occur, and your happy with the work done.
I don't see how having your furniture ruined because of his lack of care, and destroying your property can be construed as "nit-picking" for any reason.

The work is good just sloppy mistakes he's painted the walls wrong colour twice lol 😆 brain ache

How much was the blind worth?

The rooms he's finished are nicely done.
The blind was already here when we moved in we kept it for privacy until new 1 was ordered( my boys room took nearly 2 weeks to be made)
Sofa was I don't know £2k.ish.
He did say he was going to buy 3 new sheets for the living room. And suppose when givingth3 mist coat on celling few drops when on the arm and seat bit.
It's just sloppy work. He knew the carpets was coming up so he git the covered in paint the old doors are coming off so he gets paint on them.
I told him today that I can't get new doors fitted b4 Xmas and I need him to sort out the ones with paint on.. he was like I can just paint them white if that's better lol

yes I would think a restorer could effect a decent solution, I can only form an opinion on what you have told us,, but I would not be happy at all with such a sloppy amateurish approach to a paying customer.
In fact I would have sent him packing by now, but that's just me, you must do as you see fit.

Why have you employed someone who thinks net curtains are OK?

Maybe consider less focus of getting things done before Christmas?
Maybe lessen your expectations, get the house useable for Christmas and get a proper finished job done in the new year?
Within reason there's nothing wrong in trying to meet targets but date wise they have to be achievable, no good setting yourself up for failure

It's achievable definitely. He's taking longer and he's on price so he's getting less and less. 12/15 days it says on my invoice he's on 20 now 😆 feels like I have a live in painter

It's when he puts up wallpaper with the mistake showing, telling you that's how it's supposed to be, that's when tempers are lost.

He's due to come back 3rd I think but gonna put it back a bit more till kitchen and bathroom is done just little snaggy bits left. So he can have a clean work free house to do He's job in lol

Fuxking leak in bathroom lol he's coming out tomorrow to have a look. Mens tiles up cladding off the walls shower tray up ffs lol
But no kitchen is all functional same as bathroom. Enjoying the break of no builders in to be honest getting in at 5am and up at 8.30 to let people In catches up with ya.
Were see what the crack is tomorrow with leak just hope I dint have to lay out £££ for more materials. Like cladding and stuff as it's been stuck on now with gripfill I think or somthing else

Had something similar in an en suite shower. The tray was raised but not enough support under it meant it flexed and created a leak, bit of extra packing sorted it in minutes.

Last day tomorrow (thursday) hopefully bathroom all done kitchen final touches.
Toliet is winding me up new grohe toliet is leaking in to the bowl. So it's noisy and re feels a bit. It's only a little trickle. It's a rubber seal I think that's not doing its job and Victoria plumb ain't that helpful at all and looking online to try find the new part is impossible It's a push button flush valve thing that slots in and twist to lock In place
