Just been watching country file,...wow,I says to my wife the winning photo of the fieldmouse was awesome,such a lot of patience me thinks...!!
Then ,its shown the picture is staged,using a trained mouse handler in a sterile ,set up...environment..
That in my view makes the winner,null and void..
One of the finalists should be the winner..other non staged pics..
(I know I'll get an otter,put it into a fenced lake,photo it,next yr I'll win....not...)

Great program, love it. I buy my parents a copy of the calendar every year form Christmas, wildlife lovers
If that the case Adam that is pretty piss poor, I missed this bit
Should be just genuine people taking genuine pictures, what a load of bollox
On another note as I'm watching it now. Used to do a bit of walking in the lakes with my family when I was a kid so I started to take my family as you do. I walked round the bottom of the old man of Conistion one year up towards goat water, near the top of the disused copper mine, or so I thought lol...
Next thing BANG WTF
I was walking along a ridge just above the mine, guess what, this day they were working it, set a load of dynamite off to take a load of stone down to get to the copper down, all the family hit the deck, loudest bang you have ever heard, seriously, our lass and my daughter in tears as I was looking through a thick “smog” before I realised what went off lol
Not a warning in site
Now I can laugh about it

My brother n law was a slate miner,blaster...one day the set charge blew him up..mother in law,said his skin was hanging off of him like wet tissue paper...he didn't die ,luckily,changed jobs after that..

I think, landscapes photos are more difficult to take. At least, that's fair for me. I much prefer portraits or shooting events, like weddings or birthdays. Here you can capture some emotions. Some people think it's more tricky cause it's 50% of luck, but maybe I'm just lucky. Not the first time a "staged" shot has won a major photography prize. There was a photo of a wolf jumping over a gate a few ago that was after dark but the flash lighting was spot on and it was was captured just at the high point of the jump. Someone commented that the wolf looked similar to one in a Polish circus and when the organisers tried to contact the photographer, he wouldn't pick up the 'phone......

I still find the staged wildlife shots more honest than heavily photos hopped ones, I remember one winning image of a large buck deer in mist with dappled early morning sunlight, a beautiful image with a real ethereal feel. The magazine article with the captor show in how it was creating from a boring bland snapshot of a deer and a few hours in photos hop was quite disheartening for me
I've set up a bit in my garden to get some birds closer to photograph them since I can't hunt them down

Knocked this feeder and bath table up a few weeks ago for them to pose on.
The branches are held in place by speaker-to-pole top-hat brackets so I can change them about when I like.
