The humble rake….

I am paranoid about presentation…..how often have you lifted a rig off your spot in the edge, and the meticulously sharpened hook has impaled anything from a small twig to a two-foot-long black and slimy branch.
if I can get chesties on and potter out there with the garden rake to clear things off a bit I feel so much more confident….I like to do it when there is no-one around to see, but having all my fave edge spots spic and span to lower a rig on is a huge confidence boost. If it is a bit too deep for the waders then the “Jake’s Rake” on the rope will get most debris out too.
I always do my raking when there is no-one around and will often have a proper go in the winter and then I just need a super-quick drag over later in the year to get anything that has dropped in, in the interim.
And for float fishing on my local weedy Tench pond, dragging the Jake’s rake through five or six times will have them fizzing and bubbling in a surprisingly short time.

I'd be lost without them😎
