Back in the day I used to buy loads of Carp fishing magazines, (I much prefer print) and there were loads to choose from, Big Carp, Carp Talk, Carpworld, Carp Addict, Carpology, Total Carp, Advanced Carp Fishing, Crafty Carper and maybe a few more that I have forgotten. Plus the likes of Sub Mag.
Sadly they have all dwindled and we are left with Carpology, (which I subscribe to) and Total Carp. You can of course get digital formats of some but that doesn't interest me at all, preferring to pick up something tangible and flick a page so to speak.
Yes I know a lot of the articles are tired and cover off the same old "how to" basics but there's always something worth reading. But that's not the point here.
I very rarely buy Total Carp but with a long train journey ahead last week I picked up a copy of Total Carp from WH Smiths, (or whatever they are called these days) to read on the journey. From the first couple of pages I thought I had picked up Carpology by mistake, the font and layout was just the same, then a few pages in I thought, "I have seen this article before" and on looking back at the editorial info at the start the "Editor in Chief" is Joe Wright....aka Carpology. I flicked through the rest of the mag and it was literally a re-hash of Carpology articles so they have obviously bought them out.
Sad state of affairs that we may soon have just the one dedicated Carp magazine on the shelves for those that still like print. Can't see Total Carp lasting that long if all they are doing is duplicating the Carpology content.

I stopped buying the mags when i joined this forum in 2012, got fed up with seeing the same, re- hashed stuff again and again.
Towards the end of the mag hay day they were filled with more ads than articles, that sounded the death knell for me and I stopped buying them 🙁 Threw away all my Carp Worlds as I needed room in the house, wish I wouldn't have done now, had them all from #1

Thrown most of mine away too. Kept the special ones like 10/15/20 year editions of Carpworld but the rest went.
Shame as the articles back in the day were gold, so much more than nowadays "tie this rig, use this bait" they actually educated and gave different perspectives. Used to love reading about different things, for example, Martin Gibbinson on The Method, he caught loads and was different to the norm.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not "old School" and I enjoy watching the latest releases from Korda and the like but just feel we have lost something along the way.
