Looking for a quick way to bait up with boilie at around 40-50 yards. Does anyone have experience using the old fashioned spoons that attach to the end of a landing net pole, and is 40-50 yards achievable? Also any recommendations on what ‘spoon’ to buy?

Looks like gardner sell the spoon and a dedicated pole (looks like a landing net pole would be sufficient)
Has anyone got any experience with the sort of range I might be able to hit with 15mm or 18mm baits?

I had a go using one many years ago and found it spread baits all over the place and was awkward to use. It's something that you could probably master but god knows how much bait you'd need to get through to achieve that. I reckon 50 yards might be pushing it on range though

Thanks. Yes mastering the technique is one thing and then the range is a concern.
For the relatively low cost I might take a punt and see how it goes

I use one regularly. I have the fox 6ft and 8ft 2 piece poles . They sell the spoons too
Really good bits of kit . I wouldn’t bother with the 8ft pole though , I found this difficult to use . Stick with the 6ft .
I would say 40 yards of an achievable. Maybe more , iv never really tried to max it out

Ye olde orange Cobra baiting spoon!
My advice - go and practice somewhere where nobody is watching / fishing . . . .my first attempt and I balled up at least a bucket full of tangerine sized groundbait balls - the intention - to lob to an area in the middle of weedbed at 40-50yards . . .I would soon be hauling . . .
Wrong - first attempt and the groundbait erupted in the lake about 2 rod lengths out . . . . 2nd attempt it went straight up into the air and landed on my foot. . . .subsequent attempts had a similar failure rate - the weedbed remained bait free that day
Could be me but its not easy to get application right with a long handle without looking like a nod - get a much shorter handle and use it single handed like a throwing stick . . .

I have the gardner spoon and pole, I changed to the nash spoon and find it easier to get a tighter grouping when using boilies. You can achieve 40 yards, if you want further with groundbait go to a methid blaster. It does take practice , so practice away from others and not when fishing a long flexible pole is not what you want, the gardner one is about right.
