I'm having a shed/garage clear out - who do you use, courier-wise, for sending rods out around the UK?
They're an unusual shipping size, aren't they. A lot of of the big boys shipping calculators fall over when you add the measurements in. I'll be using several of the carboard tubes that new rods often arrive in.
Thoughts?

DPD usually costs about 15 quid and do a good job - cheapest by miles

Ah, thanks man - didn't check them. Is that just through their site? I think Parcel Force/DX was around £50 👎

Sadly all the known courier are expensive to send 12ft rods parcel force wanted over £40 to send one last year I found . In the end I had to travel just under a 40 mile round trip to drop a rod of I sold last year to an APC depot as I did not have a account with them so had to pay cash they charged me £20 for next day delivery

Just about every tackle shop in the uk sends out rods by courier usually for 'free' but I'd be surprised if they paid anything like the figures quoted.
I just got rods delivered by the tackle box by fed ex..maybe worth exploring them

Yes mate direct. I think it's up to 190cm. I've sold loads on eBay and used them instead of the simple delivery with no problems 👍.

If it's like here in the U.S., retailers, who ship frquently, can negotiate far better shipping rates with FedEx and others, then joe public can get.

Pretty sure the last company i used was called Paisley freight as there were no issues with the parcel length

I recently bought an old collectable rod and the seller packed it really well in a proper rod tube. DPD still managed to break it! You could see where they'd managed to bend the bloody tube. Make sure you insure anything you send.

Go on Parcel Compare or Parcel2go, various choices and prices, I generally go for UPS collected from my house at around £15.

Whatever you do if you use one of the umbrella companies that buy discounted postage from the big boys and resell it don’t use ParcelHero even if it’s the cheapest. If you use one of these companies rather than the actual courier companies then your contract is with them not the courier company.
ParcelHero are a cowboy company. If your item gets lost, stolen in transit or broken they just laugh at you and **** you off 🤬🤬🤬

A little update from me, I sold two 12ft rods on Vinted on Monday. No drama's! I think the buyer paid about £4 for the delivery and I paid 30p to have the parcel collected from home.
They were well packed in a rod tube, the one my new rods from AD arrived in. And the buyer is chuffed to bits with them.
Seems a good way to sell rods 😀
