Hi everyone. I have my pod set up on the rear transom of my boat. Because of boat traffic, back leads are a must. I prefer captive versions.

I have the fox and Gardner captive versions ones (albeit I need to order heavier versions).

The cord that comes with the fox version has a habit of getting in a proper tangle when pulling out of water and re-attaching, space is very tight and it can become a bit of mess.

So I am thinking of trying a slightly stiffer and thicker material as a cord, maybe lead core? ..... Being thicker means I can't use the winders that comes with the fox versions.

Does anyone have any better ideas for a cord and how I can store it on a winder that will allow me to feed off enough cord I need, and be able to attach to the pod (as nowhere to peg down separately)


Hopefully this makes sense to someone what I am trying to achieve.



On a side note if anyone has any 3oz captive back leads in Fox or Gardner they want to sell, I would be interested in taking them.

If you unscrew the back leads you can put them on any flat pear lead I've got 4oz on mine.

Have you seen the Trakker Clinga captive backweight? You can get them in 3,5 & 7oz and they have what looks like a pretty thick spliced lead free leader section at the lead end. . .

Same gate system as Fox it would seem . . .I always found captives to be fine on the middle and right hand rod but a pain on the left (unless pointing directly at the target) as line can get caught on a take as the gate opens from left to right . . I can imagine this exacerbated on rivers . . .
