Hi everyone,

My next French trip I’ll be baiting up from a boat (first time for a few years) and would welcome views on H Blocks versus marker poles.

Pros and cons please, with any recommendations greatly received.

How deep is the lake? To be honest I would use both. H-Blocks to mark areas as you move about looking for spots, then a pole once you have found the spot you want to fish.

H-blocks are relatively cheap and if the lake isn’t mega deep you can make your own poles from canes/conduit.

500ml bottle markers, dipped in emulsion to be posh
H attract people and are easily moved and runover/moved by boats with props or blade surfers. Poles less attractive to people just messing but not immune.

Bet a lot think they're litter picking.

Lake is relatively shallow, max 8 ft

H blocks can easily bee snagged up by fish

Marker poles the line will generally run up the side leaning the poles over this the line will go over so much safer imo

Just poor some slightly watered down paint into the bottle, shake it let it dry.
Repeat a few times, simples

You need less than you think.
you can drain any excess out once it’s coated on the inside.
I used orange and yellow in mine
