As with all commodities, pricing is driven by supply and demand! Personally I'll still use hemp but bulk it out with cheaper particles like maize, maple peas and pigeon conditioner.

Many years ago I discovered a source of particles that was far cheaper than what I could find in tackle shops or even pet shops.
It was a place that supplied pigeon food to pigeon fanciers and also those into racing pigeons, the price of particles was far less than anywhere and it was only by accident I found it when I was overheard enquiring about "maples" in an agricultural place where I used to buy my maize and the person told me he knew someone who would have some, so he rung the person up and they asked me how many I wanted, I said about 5kg, and they replied that's ok, they have 5 ton of them.
I went round and his warehouse was incredible, the place was stuffed with particles and every pigeon fancier had their own concoctions for what they fed their pigeons and he had tubs all over for each fancier that he had made up.
I came away with my car loaded to the gunnells with particles. I think the reason it was so cheap was because they buy that much, they could sell cheap and it was all loose in big bags like you buy sand and gravel etc.
Sadly after a couple of years, they retired and I have never been able to find out who took over or any place similar.

Phil- I'll use tares, maples. pigeon feed in the summer but I'm chasing barbel at the moment and a couple of pints arriving, couple leaving 2-3 times a week adds up.

Is that a 20kg sack £1.50 a kilo
or 25 ? £1.20 a kilo
Either way I think it's good value is it not
Titmus works out at £1.75 a kilo 35£ for 20 kilo
Jollyes used to sell it but look like they have stopped

appreciate you looking but St Albans is a 100 mile round trip

I recently went into a farm shop near to where I've moved to,as soon as I stepped out of the car I could smell aniseed
When I went into the shop for something else I saw litterly 50 + bags of pigeon mix with aniseed and I think it was about £16 for a sack

prices vary so much, Bamfords goes from £16-18 collected to £26 + delivery.
Copdock/Gladwells bump up their carp tax and charge £15 for 12.5kg
Just add 'fishing bait' and the price jumps
