As the Mrs isn't on here I must confess I have a ‘few' cough sets of rods and reels all neatly dressed is hold-alls or slings - any tips on how to store them?

I have had them some up - some down, but am now thinking that maybe racking its out the shelves and store horizontally? I am talking quite a few sets...

I have the same problem (cough) . . but always keep them upright / off the deck / slightly away from the garage wall on ply 'ribs'. My garage isn't the most watertight (its separate from the house) and it suffers from condensation/temp extremes - I've put rods on racks close to the walls before and have had issues with rings going green with Verdigris/whippings clouding up etc. Had to bin my beloved JW Barbel Travel rod last year because of this . . . I'd put it on the top shelf of racking against the wall and forgotten about it!

If I ever get round to sorting the garage out (lining / insulation / heating) these might be quite good - for either vertical or horizontal rod holdall storage - Heavy Duty Hooks

If you look on Ebay, their is plenty of rod rack stands, even these ones that you can use veritcally or horizontaly. Myself, I would store them vertically

And if your handy at DIY, you can make a rod stand using Foam Eaves & Ridge Filler which is used to fill gaps at the ends of corrugated roofs

Those are for individual rods tho - not multi-rod 'set ups' in their own bulky rod bags / sleeves / slings that I think the OP was inferring (this is how mine are also stored ready to go)

However its expensive! Some cheaper 2nd hand versions on FBM

Thanks for all the replies - I am sorted now. For anyone interested, my mission was to store rods and reels in bags. I purchased 2 x shelving units that are 1800 high x 900 wide and 400 deep. I placed them with the depth outward at 100 apart and put 3 x shelves on to allow the down hang of the reels. It works perfectly for me and with my set ups stored higher up - there is room underneath for bed chairs, chairs and such like.

Appreciate comments regards vertices storage but the wasted space is too much when I'm hold-alls and the height.

I am fortunate enough to have a big loft area so all my sets are in the loft in rod holdalls (stood up). Its dry and secure, and not had any issue for 20+ years they have been up there (some of them having been used in that time either )

I think I'd prefer to store rods vertically rather than horizontally using plastic coated terry clips to retain them.
