I asked a similar question about 3 rod buzz bars.
I had a reply from Defiant.One (Keith) and it made it so easy, see below;
Just space your rods out as you want them between two chairs or over a broom handle, and measure the distance between the centres of the outer rods - job done

I don't have any decent pictures, but my two rod setup is 5" rear and 6" front so very slightly flared.
With folded handles or handles at the bottom (so near the ground) my emblem exceler 5.5ks sit on them fine and they are quite big reels.
Three rods/Excelers sit on 8" rears and 12" fronts so much more flared.
Keith's recommendation to measure is the right approach, but I'd advise you to get wider fronts by an inch or two which allows you to have your reels slightly angled apart.
The quick release style of the ESP bars makes it really easy to move from two to three rod setup really easily too 👍

From what I can recall as its years since I bought a set of "Bars", if you measure just one reel from the widest points which is the handle to the opposite side and the widest part of the bail arm, times the measurement by two, that is the minimum width you need for a 3 rod bar. If you want the reels to be about an inch apart etc, just add two inches to the measurement.
If you want a 2 rod Bar, then just just buy one of that width
So basically, if your reels are 6" wide, times by 2, = 12", so a 12" bar would suffice for 3 reels that are 6" wide with minimum clearance
And two 6" wide reels, should fit on a 6" bar and just add an inch if you want the reels slightly apart

I favour 6.5” rears and 8” fronts if you can find any that size. I'm using Emblem 45's and they're perfect for that without having to fold the handles. For those of you who like to fold your handles, doesn't grit and dirt bounce up in the rain and make them all graunchy??

I've never liked the big splay most manufacturers go for, for me half an inch between rods is enough, whether i use 2 or 3 rods or if I decide to fold handles or not.
I've had loads over the years, buzzer bars are probably my worst chop and change of everything.
Currently using Custom Angling versions so I can chop and change however I like, even as singles if the situation needs it but without the hassle of removing the buzzers from the uprights, just slide them off the bars.

The way I see it, the rear bars are the datum point to work from. Have those wide enough to fit the reels without having to fold the handles in and then for the front bars add 1.5”. Any less of an increase in width from rears to fronts just makes them look either parallel, or worse still looks like the rods are actually pointing closer together at the front (optical illusion caused by distance). Most manufacturers in my opinion, do not allow enough of an increase from rear bar widths to front bar widths within their ranges. Half an inch difference is nowhere near sufficient to stop the optical illusion effect.

I have my 2 rod rear buzz bar at 6" and front at 6.5" and 3 rod bars at 11" rear front 12", my 4 rod bars rear 19.5" and front 21" which is 1/2" difference and my rods definitely splay outwards.
I would only want them a wider splay if i needed to point a rod in a different direction but in that case i would look at a single stick

I always clip my rod butts into the butt rests about an inch in front of the abbreviated butt grip, whereas I see others do it just behind the reel. I also tend to have about 4ft between the front and rear banksticks, meaning my butt rings are miles the other side of the bite alarms, whereas others have their butt rings in front of the alarms.
I've never really thought about it, but I guess other variables come into play too. Yeah, I agree, I tend to have my bars pretty code together, especially on smaller 10ft rods, probably only 18 inches apart, so the line drop from the clip on the rod to a slack bobbin is a nice tight angle. Probably achieves nothing (like a folded reel handle) but it's what I like, it's neat. I'm using 3.5inch rear and 4inch front and the rods don't look like they are parallel, just splayed enough.
