I've posted a few bits using eBay simple delivery, which has been a piece of cake, quick QR code and you're done.

Now I've got a century landing net I'm trying to sell, which I feel confident would go on eBay. Has anyone used simple delivery for long items such as a net/rods? There's plenty listed on eBay with postage costs v low.

There is the option to change to your own choice.

But, I shipped an extractor this week which admittedly isn't as long as your pole and it came up as £12 using parcel force because it was under 150cm. Arrived within a couple of days.

Other than the odd Evri delay, I've been impressed with the service tbh👍

The prices are very good for simple delivery and when you consider the parcel is insured to the value of the sale it's hard to beat.

Lots of complaints and moaning about Simple Delivery on eBay community page but I can't see any problems with it.
Ebay take responsibility for delivery if anything goes wrong.

I haven't used simple delivery but have used eBay's global shipping programme to send things abroad and I sold a watch to someone it Italy that never arrived, I could see it was stuck as t custom for ages and eBay to be fair to them sorted it. They're quite easy to contact.to which is a breath of fresh air.

I would proceed with caution. Just sold a set of rods, which were never picked up by the “simple courier”. I was fobbed off about 10 times going between both DPD and EBay customer services with neither taking responsibility. It was impossible to rearrange.

In the end, to pacify a rightfully frustrated buyer as well as my own irritation, I paid for a further courier out of my own pocket.

Will never attempt again for larger items.

Thanks a lot, this is my worry about sending a 6ft pole.

Until it's scanned into the couriers network it's still your responsibility from what I read. I don't see how that's a issue with simple delivery and it could happen with any courier.

I myself would want my money back before sending, but I'd do as you did to be honest so as not to inconvenience the buyer.

I'm in the position right now of having refunded a item after the buyer bought and paid for it. Ebay automatically generates a simple delivery label for you, and whether you use it or not they will charge you for it, in my case 4 days later and from a nominated bank account, not the funds you've received from the sale.

I contacted Ebay customer services who gave me a form to fill out for a SD refund. I fed back that I think the process should be automated, if the label generated isn't used it shouldn't be charged for. Ebay customer services were very good.

They wont take rods or landing net poles on simple delivery .
