I have bought some hooks from Aliexpress and I want to try and test their strength compared to branded hooks.
Any idea how I could do this?

Tie some hooklinks with 100 pound braid, each with a loop, pulla tools, hook the hooks in eachother, one alie and one of your usual, and see which gives. You only get a relative indication and know nothing about the point, but at least you know something about the wire. Reading along, since i'm curious about the results (i think the hooks will be fine btw) and better methods to test.

I'd also invest in some safety glasses would not want to get a bit of shattered hook in the eye

You could also use weight and scales and tie the weights to the hooks and see which takes more pressure...if you get me
Have a look at Matthew Collins on YT he does these tests occasionally

In the past when I have tested rigs and hooks, I have used a bait bucket of water. It does not do a set of scales much good when a hook or rig snaps, especially "Spring balance " type or "Dial" ones that also has spings inside. Many years ago, I damaged a good set of Avon's testing a rig when it snapped and the scales sprung back and inside the scales, all the springs had become displaced.
I just fill a bait bucket of water and weigh it with my scales and keep adding water till I get the required weight, and try and lift it just using the rig, if it lifts the required weight which is usually about the strength of my hook length etc, then it passes.
But, I would imagine their would be a big difference in testing a hook whether you apply the weight to the point or the bend or some point in between on the hook.
It might even be possible to set up a hosepipe, bucket and rig, and have the water just trickling whilst you stand back at the tap watching until is snaps and then turn the water off or have a bungee pulling on the hosepipe so when the bucket drops, the hosepipe gets pulled away so no more water goes in the bucket , and then weigh the bucket of water. It should be simple to set up.
