Hi all I'm looking for the best surface reel on the market I already have a whisker ss2600 and gs400 ltd , is there anything that has taken over from them.?

You already have the best reel for floating fishing 2600

I don't think there is a 'best' reel just the same old, 1 for all distances means bigger. Personally I use a Shimano X Aero 4000 as I like to put a bait runner on when baiting up and putting the rod down.

Only in the last 5 years have I used a dedicated floater rod, prior to that it was always a spare main rod with Daiwa Infinity 5000.

For the money, the little Wychwood Extricator 5000 reels are decent. I use them for both stalking and floater fishing, and they've done me well the last three years.

Theirs is no such thing as best reel is the simple answer the 2 reels you have now are both perfect size for floater reels

Me too -they are perfect and have the biggest spool sizes for body of reel so line behaves better and a nice clutch.
