Hi all,
With the JAG RP1 being sold out everywhere and not many on the second hand market are there any other similar lightweight pods that are just as good available?
What I'm after is carbon or aluminium. 3 rod but can be a two plus 1 single if needed.
Anyone got any other suggestions or am I best just getting a second hand RP1?

Isn't that a bigger version? I use 10 footers most of the time so needs to be as compact as possible

Why not get a pod custom made by Keith at Defiant MPS, be a fair bit cheaper than those RP pods. Personally I have the trident in titanium, Keith could make it as small as you want.

I have a Micro with 2+1s and tbf its arguably heavier than my Super Compact Adjustable when packed with all the bits you also need (see below) . . . although I like the pod (its great for fishing timber stagings / screwed down etc) its a bit of a faff and needs the stabilizer at the front to negate buzz bar twist. Its also needs 2x 9/11" sticks rather than the very low uprights that are supplied IMO (although one of which has a useful recess to attach the screw chuck and use as a screwdriver). . . .however these are no good for hard ground so when splitting the 3rd rod I use a pair of Excavators which is even more bits to carry!
Have also been considering RP1 on this basis - however still think I'll need to take Excavators and starting to think that a set of 6x Excavators may actually be easier for the current water I'm fishing . . .wish they'd do augered points on the standard banksticks so they cross over and fit the pods!

ECU have a new pod ( Full Carbon or Stainless) coming out soon.Wether it's another re-invention of the wheel remains to be seen.Bet it's expensive.

Damn wish I read this before purchasing the micro lol
What do you use to peg it down when not fishing staging? Just bivvy pegs? Wondering if their excavator bivvy pegs would fit in the hole.

when I fished with micro pod, I didnt use the uprights that come with the pod normally. I just used bank sticks and shoved them in the ground when a pod was needed, which was basically never. that's one of the beauties of the micro pod.

I bought a set of these from Ebay that fit perfectly - with and without the plastic caps depending on how soft ground the ground is . . .Micro Pod Anchors
You 100% need a 9" or 15" (preferably both) bank stick - this way both can be driven into the ground for additional stability and also mean you can use (ground permitting) with a separate third or fourth rod / 2+1 buzz bars on the pod etc
Personally would def purchase a stabilizer for the front as well - the knurled nut that tightens the front upright/bankstick on the pod really needs a rubber end or clamp to negate buzz bar twist but it doesn't have one so no matter how hard you tighten it it never truly locks . . .
Excavator banks sticks are a totally different diameter (thicker) - no idea about the bivvy pegs!

I use standard bivvy pegs in holes in feet to secure when needed.
The inners from excavator banksticks can be used as extended uprights if required as well.

Tempted to send it back then! Need a pod because of tough ground so putting banksticks in the ground to make it stable kinda defeats the purpose of the pod lol

Would an MPS defiant pod count as a lightweight pod? They're full size, but being fully titanium cuts a lot of weight.
I've got a fantail on order which is their heaviest pod at 2.4kg for just the chassis & no sticks, but the tiger is 2.4kg and the panther is just 1.7kg (That's including the bank sticks)
