I have a couple of longer original Solar Sod pod uprights ,that are spare..I want to cut them down to lower them ,thus stabilising the pod..

You can buy them shorter but are hard to find .
So my question is ..how is the T bar pozzi lock threaded end held on to the shaft of those inners on the uprights,are they glued on ,I can't see any pins etc ..

Anyone done this ..?

I'm fairly certain they're push/compression fit. If you look inside the threaded sleeve from the bottom you might see it. I haven't shortened one myself but I'd imagine you'd have to push the bar out from the inside with a hammer and punch of some sort, something that'll fit inside the threaded collar. If you have a vice, dangle the upright through it and tighten up so the collar can't slip through the top, if that makes sense.

I have altered a Sod Pod, removing the bosses from the centre bar then turning the boss spigot on a lathe to make it quick release from the centre bar. The boss spigot is push/compression fit too.

Thanks Vossy,if I've read your post and instructions correctly ,I'm to tap the solid shaft out ,the opposite way that you'd think as it's a compression type of process to hold it in place..

Hopefully I haven't confused myself ,lol. Yes I have seen your sod pod conversion on here back along..

Reason I'm asking is just bought another sod pod ,so I can fish two plus one apart ,I don't like ,or never got on with 3 rods on a pod ..

I'm looking for the 4 inch front adjustable upright ,but they are silly money ,so have a spare upright I'm going to mess about with..

That's the one. As far as I'm aware they're all compression fittings. You have to tap the solid shaft out by going in at the screw thread end, so obviously be careful of the threads. I'm not sure if there's a shoulder in there to prevent the shaft from falling though, but if you tried it the other way the other collar where the thumb screw goes in would prevent removal anyway.

Back in 'the day' to make smaller bansticks you'd knock the thumbscrews collar off, chop the stick down and then put the collar back on, obviously you'd have to shorten the inner too.

I'm out at the mon but will take a look at mine to confirm later.

Thanks,yes I think I know what to do ..

I bought the last 4 incher front upright for the pod ,it wernt cheap either..( should be good system ) 2 plus 1 ,landing net width apart ....old skool cool ,ha,ha .

I've had a look where I thought my sod pod was...and it wasn't there. I think I know where it is, I'll have a nosey tomorrow.

You're not wrong re those 4" uprights, always commanded a premium, but I've noticed as of late they haven't been selling for what owners want...has the old skool bubble burst

Just thinking about it and realised I have a 4" tripost....doh, images should make sense.
The 1st image, that isn't a black shadow ring around the shaft it's a gap, bigger than normal must say, even if out of focus!. Image 3 shows the shaft on the insert top of post.

Good pics Vossy ...that adjustable middle 4 inch is what I'm aspiring to get ,I've got one for my other sod pod, and if you remove the long original upright and put that 4 incher in its place it drops the level of the pod ,adds stability and looks so much better..

I paid 50 quid ,pretty much for my second sod pod ,should be here this week ,like I was saying I've a spare 9 incher ( in my dreams )...,I'm going to try and make it look like yr 4 incher,( this is a family forum if anyone thinking naughtiness here)..

So anyone following this thread ,who's got one like Vossys middle four inch adjustable, and wants to to part with it ....let me know..

I think the Solar old skool stuff,has deffo dropped in price ..

Nb,I've always been a 3 rod carper,but not a fan of three rods bunched together ,hence my.love for two plus one ,plus its extremely versatile...

Also,my beady eye on the third picture ,possibly noticed some what appears some residue ,could be glue ,if that's the case ,then what I thought originally could be true ie glued in ..I really don't know ..

I do know that some glues on stainless is really strong ,because I sent a 2048 Ltd edition centrepin back to Garry Mills ,with a moving stainless foot ,that had loosened ,and he repaired it with glue ,...

That's why I like my Defiant Panther, just whip off a couple of sticks. The only thing I didn't/don't like about my Sod & Worldwide, always needed to carry 2 extra sticks jic.
