Looking to get a 13 footer, done a search on here and the two main choices so far are between the Aviator and the Tackle Box CF-X, any thoughts, other options?

I have some Torrix and CF-X rods so know they are both great quality.

Also I used to have one of the Fox ones years ago and it felt like a broom handle so preferably something that doesn't!!

Out of the two Chuffy, I personally would choose the Aviator. Whilst I know the Tacklebox rods are fantastic, lots of heavy duty, perhaps long range spodding is a serious task, the Aviator will last longer.

Thats just an opinion. Im sure others will say otherwise. Some might even say, due to cost, when the Tacklebox rod fails, you could buy another and it would still be cheaper than the Aviator.

Id buy the Aviator if it was me in your position.

I've used both and would definitely choose the Aviator. It's a lighter, crisper blank. The CFX is decent but it's heavy.

I've had a 13' Freespirit SLite SPM for several years and its a beast of a rod . . .its also a lot lighter than most of the usual premium alternatives (if this matters) - SLites now discontinued so you may be able to pick up a bargain

Do 'fancy' a 13' Aviator Spod (as an Aviator fanboy) for tartiness if nothing else but a lot of the stock rods have Vortex rings which I'd worry about using with braid over time . . .

Jeffire,, built my aviator 13ft spod for me, with kigan rings. Worked out cheaper than off the shelf and is built to my liking.

13ft aviator. Best spod rod I've ever used, and I've used a few!

Thanks chaps, looks like I might have to seriously look at the Aviator then

Oh and I take it the ‘black edition' one that the Tackle Box do is the correct one, yes?
