I'm not a fan of ridgemonkey in general. I've got no confidence in their engineering or quality control, BUT I bought one of these thinking it would be a good way of reducing weight/bulk on short sessions.

Arrived today, the cap is really stiff to apply or remove, it almost feels like it's cross threaded but I'm pretty sure it's not.

Has anyone else experienced similar? It's so stiff it will put me off using it to be honest, especially with cold hands. Might have to send it back.

Like yourself I'm always looking at reducing unnecessary kit,or bulk and weight ..

I looked at these ,but didn't purchase because of....

A,I bought a clear 2.5 litre hydration bottle from Tescos ,I don't want a green one ,I like to see the level of water ,and the colour of it..

B,it was cheaper ,one in car as back up ,one on the bank..

C..I don't use RM kit at all ..

I used one of those sports type bottles for a while but it wasn't particularly durable. I think I managed to crack it in the end by putting something of it.

I've applied a bit of candle wax to the RM one and it's loosened it up a little.
Serves me right for not sticking to my own rules about never buying from RM.

On the plus side at least it wasn't their bait boat.

Mine is quite old now but works a treat. Probably just stiff because its new? If in doubt send it back

I have a couple of 2.5l wide mouth chemical storage containers that I got many years ago, I seem to recall they had de-ionised water in them, opaque plastic, blue caps, never leak, indestructible.
