Hi all, just a quick one. I've never understood how adding/removing the line lay washers actually work. Over the years I've just asked friends or winged it till I'm happy.
Does any of you kind lot know the amount of washers to use to get the best line lay on the daiwa 5000t. Tia everyone

Should just be one it comes with as standard out of the box Grey one if I recall. I've owned a few and never adjusted line lay using an extra washers.

Cheers I'll check mine. I brought mine brand new and the line lay was horrendous all the line seems to be at the top of spool.

What often happens is someone takes the spool off and the washer sticks to the bottom of the spool due to a tiny bit of grease, but then falls off and goes unnoticed.
The line gets put on and it's all over the place.

I fitted the western development slow oscillator arm gives great line lay well worth it imo

Need to add a washer pal.
This could also be done to the rods too as I found out yesterday. Where your reel sits on the blank can make a huge difference also.
Top spooling = Add
Bottom spooling = remove.

Exactly that and what Baitman says happens a lot. I was confused by the initial post at 1st as to me line lay is the way the line lies, not where it lies on the spool, so to me the comment re the oscillation covered it.
Funnily enough I respooled my Infinities earlier this year and couldn't remember if a trait of that reel is the tapering in of the line at the bottom of the spool, but there's no excess at the top, I even called Future Reel Servicing to check!
