Hi there,
I am going to make some pop ups for winter, who does the best pineapple flavour, best banana, and best scopex flavour for mixing all together.

I use Rod Hutchinson scopex. I've been happy with it for a while now. I can still smell the scopex on the pop-ups when they've been out longer than 12 hours or so.

Catchit Labs Scopex is very good, or John Baker Toppex/ TM1.
John Baker Banana.
Mainline Pineapple Juice/ Solar Ester Pineapple (both now discontinued I believe).

Be very interested to hear people's views on the best pineapple available at present.

My preference is for Nutrabaits Ni Banana, it's far more rounded and smooth than say CCMs version (I have both). I've never used a Pineapple flavour (really) and when I did use Scopex it was RH and then Nash, probably not a lot of help there, apologies.

Or try adding some ethyl butyrate. Or some amyl acetate (the old “pear drop” smell). The bits that actually make the flavour work.....

Only thing with mixing flavours is knowing whats in them so you don't overdo a component. Jay Rider mentioned the problem when people add n-butyric as its in lots of flavours.

That's when it pays to know your bait supplier, and be able to talk to them about what you would like to achieve with bait.

I was reading an old thread " pop up mixes." I been making a version of the forums approved recipie . So I have a base mix which is working nicely, thought I would try and make a high attract pop up mix with banana, pineapple, scopex or the equivelent with butyric. Just trying to work out where to get the flavours ? for the cold winter months. I don't really know what I'm doing as it's a minefield, but I enjoy muddling through and making my own bait . So any advice is very much appreciated.

You could do worse than drop an email to a couple of major flavour suppliers. I wont name them but most know who they are. If they cant be bothered to reply. Go elsewhere.

I know it's a lot of fun making your own but it's going to be quite expensive to make just a few pop ups. As a alternative have you thought about asking someone like Proper Job Pop Ups to custom make you some?
Have you thought about making your base mix similar, might ease the pain of buying the flavours specifically for 1 purpose. As Mark says, you might then be able to buy a 'mix' from a flavour house, in my experience they want you to order quite a lot minimum (a litre would be a lot for pop ups...lol), maybe that's not the case anymore, it's been a while since I made my own. That way you might only need to order NB acid, or see if the flavour house will do a small amount of a pop up mix with the normal mix.
Another option, find a pop up that closely matches what you want then over roll it with whatever it lacks that you'd like. Like wise, if it has a dedicated spray experiment with it with your additional flavours.

I got my pineapple & banana from Biologic Baits via FB. The Pineapple has a good amount of NBA in it as well. The toppex from JB is great. Sam at Optibaits does great cream flavours too.

Thanks for all your replies, I ended up buying NI pineapple, banana, cream and some pepper oil as I think they might ?? work together, I will soon find out in the coming months.
Thanks again for your inputs, it did help in my decision. Fingers crossed it all works !
