I watched a Barbel video by The Ginger Fisherman a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it and thought it's a good idea for a thread. The camera is one of those 360 deg ones you can move at home with the remote. What got me about the video was the pre occupation we have with hook sharpness and rig presentation which would lead you to have kittens if you could see this while fishing I loved the way the Barbel use there snouts to move quite big stones and how many times the rig gets blown about/out.

Anyway, well worth a watch, the amount of times I said he's going to have it now...but no!

I like the Drennen specimen ones, blokes with a passion for what they do and a true reflection of how fishing is for me, peace and quite, at one with nature, no screaming bell ends or dick heads either, a good watch

Funny you linked those vids, I've been watching his vids for a while now, quite enjoy his no nonsense approach. Last few I've watched have been on the Fens but that big girl he caught after so long waiting...fully deserved

I've watched a few of his on the Trent too, seems a nice decent all round bloke, no bull****, straight to the point

The last 1 on the fens annoyed me tbh...Let's see what the night brings...morning comes.. I've got something a bit special in the net but you'll have to wait until March to see it in a video hmm....will I....not

I'm biased as these are mine, but if you just want to see 2 good barbel, the evening on the middle Severn is a good watch.
If you want to see some tactical info and fish river Trent at Fiskerton is worth a watch

Spent some time on there in me youth, was a book holder for years and an additional Notts license in the day

Brought a smile to me face, happy days. Started fishing the Trent again and have threatened to go back but been going elsewhere, the low 30s used to be good for the barbel!!!

I noticed the top part was a syndicate so thats why I haven't bothered

Was chub in the day and they seemed to drift away then there was loads of skimmers!

The good news is, the Trent is full of life, pretty amazing really

Nice action on those rods, what are they ? They look proper too, brown blanks, cork handles, just like the old days.

Thanks. I love it up there, and the good thing with fishing day only stretches is they're normally under fished so choice of swims are plentiful.

I've got Lee's book Vossy 'Darker side of carp fishing' it was his first book a few years ago now not sure what his Barbel books like but if its anything like the Carp stories and captures it will/should be a good read.
