Evening all,
I have the solar sp c tech sleep system MK1, and love it. Fabulous piece of kit and very comfy. The sleep system really works for me in terms of comfort as I'm 6ft 6 and can get cold.
The drawback is the weight of it - its far too heavy to be moving on fish several times in a 24 hour session. I've reached a point where even on the barrow, I just don't want the weight and the size.
A friend has a Trakker RLX Flat-6 Superlight Bed, and really rates it.
Trouble is, he's a lot smaller than me and could sleep on a washing line. I really struggle to get to sleep.
Anyone on here used both bedchairs? I'd possibly keep the sleep system and sell the bedchair as I feel a bit constrained in a sleeping bag.

Not a answer to your question, but a question about your Solar bed and possibly a consideration for you. How do you find the vertical foot room in the sleep system with being tall?
I recently spent 5 days using my older style Fox Ventec 5 season, it has a skirt top and bottom to attach to the bed. Anyhow, being 6' I found the bottom of the bag applying a lot of pressure to my feet when lay on my back which wasn't comfortable at all. In the end I had to remove the bottom skirt which made it better but obv allowed the bag to move. I'm just wondering if the Solar sleep system has more room as I've been looking at the Mk2.

Try the Wychwood Tactical in standard size - similar stiffness to the Solar but does need a SIM to match the comfort. Waaaay lighter. . . half the weight at least. Why are you hellbent on sleep systems? - colder / less room / less versatile IMO

Hi mate, the foot room in the sleep system is as wide as the whole bag. I can easily stretch out left and right. I am a side sleeper though and a bit fetal position, so I don't stretch out that often.
Defo check out the solar mk 2 - I am sure it is a brilliant bedchair in every respect if their mk1 is anything to go by - if weight and ease of a move isn't an issue for your angling.

Hi Belch, thank you for the feedback. I am no expert at all, for sure - I thought a sleep system was an option covering different temperature. Sleep under the thin layer when warm, and under the main layer and thin layer when cold.
Most sleeping bags I've seen are smaller than the solar sleep system (to my eyes).

Thanks Jack, much appreciated mate 👍 My Fox Ventec is squared off at the bottom it's just with the hood on the bed it wasn't half giving my feet grief, had to point them down until I removed the hood. I do quite Fancy the Solar bed, at the mo the wide is only available in the system, we'll see.

Mate that isn't the one hey! What a pain, sounds like a design fault on the Fox.
And re the wide for Solar, with my MK1 mine is not wide - and it feels plenty wide enough.

Ooh, interesting, thank you. I was thinking just go wide to avoid any issues with the bars on my knees, or pushing my back inwards as almost lying on them to achieve foetal position, but if you can do it at 6'6" maybe I can consider the standard. I much prefer that idea to being tied into a system, not to mention already having 4 fishing sleeping bags!

The new solar dura dore bed/system looks a decent bit of kit and is a lightweight compared to the c tech, could be an option

Cheers mate, looks good, but its over 10kg. Put that with the sleep system, and its not a lot lighter than the SP tec.
