Hi all, its been a while since I have been on here and glad to see its still as active as ever before - thought people would have moved to social media more so;
I have had my Tempest V2 since release - 10 years!!! And its been used a lot, throughout all the seasons and even in some of the storms, 60mph plus gusts (thats a story for another time).
I am in the market now to replace this, the material is no longer as water proof and some serious sun damage to the skull cap.
I'm looking for a bit more space with some of the more recent innovations the latest bivvies have, doing a bit of research it seems Trakker are missing out on some of the smaller detail that could be explored - Folding back groundsheet, light hooks, little mesh pockets and being able to adjust side vents from the inside for example. But the most that got me interested is having a flat back that enables you to push the bedchair back - Tempest always seems to have that little triangle void that is a waste. I have put things there, but pain in arse to get over the back of the bed to get at it.
Im still relatively fit and able so weight and height of bivvies are not really going to deter me, however I would like to be able to convert a bivvy into a 2 man with an overwrap or one that is of decent size to get 2 beds in, with minimal luggage as the rest can stay in the car. my options;
AVID EXO+ Bivvy (I have emailed AVID to see if an overwrap is coming out and/or a 2 man version - I believe a 2 man is as AD are showing this on there website)
Nash Titan T1 - This looks heavy and a faff to put up, any experience?
FOX Frontier XD.
Are there any other potentials I should explore?

I would look at the Frontier and Solar Uni Spider as the best options from what I've seen (I own the Solar and know plenty of people with the Fox). I've only heard negative reviews of the quality of the Avid, which is a shame as the features and spec seem really good. Can't comment on the Nash

Second for the Fox Frontier XD.
Great quality, the folding entrance flap is a great feature and the black out material is great in the summer to keep cool and dark at night.

I'd avoid the Nash as it's heavy and a bit of a faff as you mentioned. I have a T1 and I'm looking to replace it with something tall and light as my back's knackered 😂 Probably from lugging the T1!

Nash hide XL is worth a look at.
Perfect height with plenty of internal space. Sadly the extras are a knock and the overwrap is pricey to cover you all seasons.
But I guess all can be bought on some sort of deals

I wasn't aware of that. Hopefully quality control.will get better with Avid if that is the case (not that Fox are exactly world beaters themselves in that sense)

Quality control is done in house at the manufacturer in a factory in China. All companies will suffer from time to time. Especially if they are changing suppliers.
Probably find most of the bivvies on the market come from the same factories. But Nash Fox or whoever will have a say on raw materials.

Had my Frontier X over 2 years now, would reccomend it to anyone

So after much research I'm gonna settle for the Tempest RS 100 Camo.
Bit more pricey, but had mine for over 10 years and can't fault it, less moving parts in the boss area so I believe this will be more reliable than the others mentioned.

I would go for RS100/150 based on your requirements - better headroom / footroom / features than previous Tempest variants . . . . . the camo however is an acquired taste !

Had a look at the 150, a little too big, therefore the 100 will be perfect.

I've seen the rs on the bank and not that impressed tbh.
I would get a sonik axs V2 or quest defier MK3....
Two different mates trakkers have had poles snap also.

Having had a number of Tempests over the years I much prefer the Fox Frontier X.
