I appreciate the easy answer is to go back and use a 12ft rod...

BUT

I don't want to go back to 12ft rods as with limited space the 10ft retractable rods have been a god send over the years. However, I've had a few occasions this season where I have struggled to cast over 90 yards with my Sonik Insurgent rods when needed. So I was just wondering if anyone who uses maybe 10ft 3.5 tc rods which may add some yards for me?

You could try the Sonik Xtractor Recon rods in 12ft. They have the same pack down size as the 10ft'ers. The 3.25lb tc's are on offer at AD for £40 currently.

It's technique, not the rods.

Terry Edmond's did 170 yards with the original 9' 2.75lb tc Scopes when he was with Nash.

Find a set of insurgent recons. They are 12ft, but collapse down to the same pack down length. Early cast will over 100yds with the 3.25tc

Yeah agree, but I'm not Terry! I can cast OK but a 9ft 2.75 rod going that distance is mind blowing.

Are Sonik the only one's who have made that type of rod? (12ft retractable) - I wonder if they haven't sold very well...

I did email them asking if they were going to bring out a new version, but they said they wouldn't. Which indicates that it wasn't a flier. Shame really because I think theyre bloody fantastic.

Yeah that's a shame, guess that is sales for you.

I was always concerned with two retractable parts there is more to go wrong...
