Good watch that Gerry. Its the panicking aspect and the cold that does for most people. Some good pointers there as it seems most anglers live in chest waders these days. Not quite sure why most of the time. But watching that might just save there lives. Thanks for sharing.

Well worth posting, there was a discussion here back in 2022 about falling in with waders on and I posted the same clip of Hugh Falkus demonstrating what to do.
The clip is from some TV program he did many years ago, and I only knew about it as I could recall watching it on TV and after searching for it, found the clip and posted it into a thread about falling in with waders on.
But well worth knowing what to do.

Having been to Sparsholt, there's a lesson at Winchester school's pool. with waders, chest and thigh, that was an eyeopener.

As already said, a good watch . However as another post said its cold shock that does for a lot of people in that situation. This chap knew what was going to happen & was mentally prepped for it... with anglers surprise is another factor..
Had a similar accident myself years ago.. I was fishing on a snowy Valentines day and was on a staging.. All good until packing up when I was removing the front stormpole from the water. ..1 second I was nice & dry, next thing I know im heading face first & going under into the v cold water as the staging collapsed. Bearing in mind I had a big two piece winter suit & skeetex boots on, initially I was buoyant but once water had flooded in via my neck area I was battling the weight & the urge to get out ASAP. Luckily I managed to drag myself out on Adrenaline, get myself back to the car with my kit& speak to the owner. The only real damage was to my phone which died & later claimed for under their insurance. In hindsight I should have reported them to H&S ..im sure the staging was pretty rotten ..their duty of care was absent..
