Morning all,

I have been looking at purchasing a winch cam for my bait boat and was wondering what peoples opinions were at present as to which one is best?

In the previous threads, Stealth seems to get the best reviews but on Facbook its dominated by FishEye.

Anyone used either the Fisheye Connect or Stealth Fusion?

Stealthcam by a country mile over anything else. Best picture quality and amazing customer service.

I got rid of mine as wanted to control my camera from my RT7 controller and the quality is shocking compared to the Stealthcam.

Are these 'worth it' in reality (ie do you use them as the final 'check' every time prior to confirming a spot and actually dropping a rig) or are they more of a 'quick check of an area' before logging etc?

There good bits of kit Belch - i got one from a mate to borrow for a few weeks. There is art to using them as they can spin when lowered but, for checking an area on the deck, they are better than using a glass bottom bucket - Ii found a group of fish in the winter on a big pit, they were buried up to their gills side by side in a small gulley. Looks like they had been there for weeks - was an amazing sight.

Steve who owns Stealth Cam is also a top bloke.

Reality is they are not really needed imo. I rarely use mine as its additional effort and takes away a bit from fishing. I do however confirm my spots on day one with them (which only confirms what my Raymarine elements knows already) and after a day with few times baiting confirm if all my bait is still in the spot which stops me to either continue baiting or look for a different spot.

Handy little tool but effort. I know people that use it every time with a drop to look at their rig etc etc. Overkill and takes the fun out of fishing

Funny story last time I used it was like a scene out of Jaws. I lowered my camera in murky water half way down see something come out of nowhere and the camera hit a small carp on the head.

My thoughts and probs how I would also use - I think the post drop / spot checking ability to see if you've got bait on the area would be invaluable . . .

Do they have limitations beyond a certain depth in terms of darkness / clarity? Can they get jammed in weed and effectively tether your boat?

I have the stealth cam ultimate and it is absolutely amazing. The Fusion is meant to be even better but I can't see how you can improve on it tbh. I use mine a lot but I am fishing a very weedy water where I am looking for small holes in the weed or small patches of gravel. This is where they really score and I know I fish areas that I would never be able to identify with a marker rod. Fishing with the wynch cams is a bit of an art and I never drop a bait whilst the wynch is down as it has led to many tangles. As a result they can be difficult to manage in windy conditions. The other issue is that they can knock your confidence when you drop the wynch cam down and the bait is still there two days later. Sometimes it's best to just not know! Having said that I wouldn't be without mine!

I have never had mine out more than 25ft and with the leds on these visibility are perfectly fine.

As for snagging I have had mine snagged once cruising around looking for spots to get tangled by some weed. Boat was tethered but after struggling the weed finally snapped and I manage to get the boat home. Long story short dont drive around with your boat with the camera all the way down. Now I would always winch it in a few feet before driving in the area.

As mentioned they are handy and you learn a lot from your spots etc just depends how much time you want to spend looking at a screen whilst at a lake (trying to get away from a screen ha)

Many thanks for the advice.
Seems Stealth is still the one at the moment. Looks like there is going to be some learning but will be worth it just to find spots as the clear spots are very small amongst the weed where i fish

Thats exactly what i am considering it for. The weed in places is weird and i struggle to find definate clear spots.

As i said below, sounds like i will have a fair bit of learning too do and probably some tangles lol.

So i've managed to find a Stealth Cam compact pro for the ND2. Are the anti spin attachments for the camera worth the money or not?
