Has anyone used the newer thinner version and if so, how does it compare to the original?

I love the thick stuff, but if the thin version helps me cast 120 yards I will be well pleased

Watching as also use the thicker one.

So looking at this myself, so the older thicker stuff is 0.40 and newer is 0.34 I believe
But looking yesterday found a 2 year old YouTube clip of thinking anglers using 0.34 so wondering if am missing something

The new one is 25lb bs..
the old one is 40lb..bs if the new version is half as thick and sinks as well as the 40lb, I'll be happy ..🙂

Fantastic braid but casts like pants. When it's wet you can see it falling out of the sky. The 25lbs is good for 110yrds casting for me. Anything over that and it's the Fox Submerge. .

I used the 25lb sbx find it casts miles better than the original sbx can regularly hit 110 yards and I'm not a great caster haven't tried anything over 110. I have used the avid sinking braid i will say that casts a little better and if distance is your main concern that would be better for you it does sink but not as quickly or easily as the sbx. Have found using wet sweatband on the reel spools on the way to the lake helps both braids sink a lot better and makes them cast better.

I had to strip the avid braid off my reels as it floated, even after hours in the water it wouldn't sink, it was so bad I was getting constant liners from birdlife swimming past

Not my experience. I've had it on for 2yrs and I have to peel it off the bottom.
Would say it's not a particularly heavy braid but it's better for casting being thinner.

Big tows and undertows can be a pain with braid. Far quicker to be affected by them and you just have to go straight to fishing dead tight lines.

I had all 3 rods pulled up tight to 4oz leads and it was still floating at my rod tips
