If you are using tungsten tuning or leadcore fishing on a tight line will that tubing or leadcore be up of the lakebed? Only fishing 50-70 yards out 99% of the time, normally feel the lead down then sink the line then tighten out any bow from the slack left over from sinking line then pull off maybe 2-3 foot on let that sink down then put the bobbin on. I normally use half to a metre of tubing or leadcore behind the lead, reason I ask is my lake is around 14-15ft deep everywhere. Are fish as scared of lines as people say/think?

I use 18-24in of tungsten tubing these days, sinking the line from rig end first by holding the rod high. I think so long as care is taken sinking the line and having a small drop on a light-ish bobbin, I dare say the tubing is on the deck

I wouldn't worry about it, the tubing will be on the deck. You may think you've taken the bow out of the line but with 50-70 yards out it's very difficult to get the amount of tension required on the line to do that, you'd have to be fishing a seriosly heavy lead and bobbins wouldn't cover it to get the bow out.

Given your parameters, with a perfectly level lake bed and a perfectly tight (straight) line, the start of your half meter or leadcore would be less than 3cm off the bottom. However, given that there will be sag, it's unavoidable, you will be nailed to the bottom. No problem.

Thanks for the reply's it's just something I lay there thinking about at night when I'm out fishing, iv seen that about letting the line sink from rig end before on YouTube I think, il give that a go next time for peace of mind
