As per title really anyone use a Highlander Folding Outdoor Sit Mat as a bed chair buddy. Looks like it weighs sweet fa and would happily sit inside a bed for transport. I'm curious is it better worse that a traditional metal framed bed chair buddy which uses the same back rest concept

Its just basically a mat to sit on, no point, all its going to be is a piece of mat laid on top of your sleeping bag on your bed which is comfortable enough as a rule. Might as well just sit on your pillow if you want something else softer to sit on.
These mats are just for sitting on wet grass etc. Basically, it would be something else you would be taking that you do not need.
But, it could have a use if you do a lot of creeping about stalking etc and want something to sit on unless you use the unhooking mat which you could also use on your bed.

Which also are not up to much, I bought one about 10 years ago, used it a few times and slung it in back of shed. I think NASH did them as well.

It's all about the back rest support not not the comfort of the seat pad that I'm curious about. As I said the only difference to this and a bed chair buddy is the metal frame on a bed chair buddy. Indeed the product is as per your link

So its the folding chair you are referring to and not the "Highlander Folding Outdoor Sit Mat" which does not have a back.
As for the folding chair, the amount of back rest support is nothing, it does not even give you much support as it does not support all your back except the lower lumbar area and they are certainly not designed for sitting on for long periods.
I use the Tracker chair, forgot its name which doubles up as a normal chair which you can use outside or in the bivvy or a bed buddy.

I have had the Tacklebox version ,I sold it ,which sums it up
After much looking ,purchasing and sitting ,the only thing I would thoroughly recommend is a Helinox chair one or chair one XL,I have both ,
I won't sit across a bedchair anymore ,as it will hurt your back later in life..
Both Helinox chairs fit in my porterlite barrow bag ,and I butt them up against my bedchair in use ,or....I just sit on them til I need to get in my bedchair..
There are cheaper generic versions,...I won't go fishing without mine..I also use the chair one on my bike ,with a rigged and Ready x5 set up..
You won't regret getting one...
