I mainly use the Delks or the Atts alarms depending on species I am after and if I prefer a roller wheel or vibration. However dug out my set of RS1 sirens last week as I am going through a bit of a change fishing wise at present.
Absolutely loved them. Forgotten how good they are. Wondering about upgrading to R3 or R3+ alarms. The main thing that makes me consider it is the Light up roller wheels on the RS1 are not that bright. Looking at video's of later alarms they seem much better.
Are there any other features that are better?. Not sure I like the bobbin connection on R3+. The RS1 with thread adapter looks much neater unless you want Nash dedicated bobbins. The main concern though is that the RS1 is very quiet from the head on volume 1 whereas I have seen mention that R3 and R3+ are very loud on the quiet setting.

I've used the R3's pretty much since their release and they have been absolutely faultless.

My lad has just got a set of R3+ alarms, he really likes them but a receiver was really difficult to get hold of. So if you want a set with a receiver, look for a set with a receiver OR get a receiver first.

I had the R3s for a number of years and they were by far the best alarm I have ever owned. I changed over to the R4 when they came out which are just as good.

where you can get storms with huge winds that create massive waves that would completely defeat probably every other alarm
but the R1`s were brilliant and worked superbly in the big waves crashing on the beach

PS. I ALWAYS have any of my alarms turned right down low on the heads and the receiver is on a lanyard round my neck or if im sleeping hanging from a bivvy hook so its right next to my head I dont want anyone else knowing when my alarms go off

I'm using r3's at the moment, they aren't that loud on the lowest section, or as loud as a nev at full volume.
A bit fiddly to go through the options with the buttons, so mine are just set and forget.
One feature I do like is when you press the on/off button once the speaker goes mute until you press it again. Ideal for when you are placing/removing your rods.
I will go back to Nevs when I have the money though, just prefer the non nonsense on/off and a rizla filter in the speaker hole to turn the volume down 👍
Edit: agreed regarding the remote, they sell for over one hundred quid second hand which seems crazy!

Agree about the mute function, I really miss that simplicity on the R4s. The "upgrade" is far too complicated that I never use it.

Think my lad bought 3 x R3+ alarms for £30 each from TFT in the Sales. We were out one Sunday morning watching my other lad play footy, he ordered them, and at the time, my local tackle shop had two receivers in stock. I went in on the Wednesday following, and they'd both been sold!! I then found another shop online which had one in stock, ordered it, and they sent a R4 receiver. Found another one a few days later, same again, ordered it and got a R4 receiver and finally found another and got a R3+ receiver at last!! But it was £130, more than the price of the 3 alarms. But still, a set for £220 isn't bad.
If anyone is looking for a R3+ receiver and you find one online, always call to check it is a R3+ one!!
